That's one thing not listed in the Chavis resume. He was not successful against the Gators. I hope for his sake this changes, cause he still has to play UF every year. Sometimes twice a year.
I finally got the stats: Tennessee's defense held Florida to 243 total yards and under 4 ypc while holding the Gators to its second lowest points total this year. LSU, on the other hand, allowed Florida 475 total yards and over 6 ypc this year. I'll happily take Chavis.
lol, he may be the best hire of all-time but those stats are extremely skewed. short fields, punt returns for td's, etc. they easily moved the ball and then the game was over. fwiw he gave up 59 and 560 in '07 to a four loss uf team.
That damn Chavis can't hold down those Gators. Btw, that was easily the worst offensive output by the Gators all season. Easily.
Sounds to me like Miles has done a GREAT job attracting good solid coaches, Chavis has probably been done for some time, and Chavis seems to have had input, may have interviewed Coop and Brick if those are the guys. Gotta give Miles some credit for running a tight ship and keeping the rumors for running rampant. Gotta give Miles credit for not dumping on Peveto and Mallory, which should endear him to future assistants. There is a lot good to say about his PROCESS in going through this. Some folks thought he should have announced the sacking of the co DC's and conducted an open search immediately at the seasons end. He does it a different way, is quieter, seems to consider many options, talks to heavily experienced folks that know how they want to do things, and he can attract them to LSU and do a deal with them. Pretty impressive in my book. The co DC thing did not work, he fixed it, and he didn't make it ugly or real public. Les seems like a quality guy, concerned about you on the way in, and concerned about his people even on the way out. This is the mark of a good person, IMO. In the final analysis, I gotta say I'm pretty impressed with Miles handling of this situation. It wasn't great at the end of the year, but he's run a quality process, and it looks better for next year. I await the results from next season, but on the process, it looks pretty good from the cheap seats out here. :geaux:
