Les asked the head of officials today if he could have intentionally gotten a false start penalty by having a lineman move early and offsides. Yes, eh could have. Officials would have moved the ball back five yards and started clock when ball was set.
Calling pass plays when you are in field goal range is what did it for me, he says he signed off on those, so he gets the blame, unreal. Its not the mad hat anymore, its the dunce cap.
Just like in real life when you think with your balls more then you do with your head it gets ya in trouble...just in real life it takes 9 months to realize it!!!
That's how it worked out Saturday, but we should NOT have had enough time to run another play. The clock would have started as soon as the ref set the ball in play. We would have been caught running the FG unit on the field with no time. I guarantee you- IF, with 1 second on the clock, we had run a play and scored a TD or kicked a FG it would NOT have counted. The screw-ups started at the 32 yard line. We should have gotten 3-5 more yards off 2 running plays. Then call timeout and kick a FG. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
maybe maybe not, there is a thread on here with the same scenario and the field goal unit got on the field with .01 and got the kick off and won. It depends on when the officials call the clock to be started.
