He says he put the team in a position to lose by losing track of the clock on that fourth down play. Says that they had one play called and it was the hail mary. They had no chance to run a play with 1 second because they had nothing prepared. Reporters starting to grill him now. He also says they ultimately tried to spike the ball. Hopign to catch Ole Miss with 12 men on the field. It was all they could do at the time.
He is still saying he did not know how/why clocking it was called. He says that he has since found out from his staff that it was coming from the press box. They were seeing 12 men on the field.
They never had a second play called. they assumed the 4th down play would be the final play of the game.
Earlier he said that he stands by the calls for pass plays once they reached the 32. He says he signed off on those plays. Those were his plays. He takes responsibility for those.
He said it takes 12 secs to run the FG unit on....the reporter says there was twice that amount of time for the chains to be placed. Miles says " I would be SURPRISED if there was 30 secs from the time the ball was thrown to the time the ball was set and ready to play" WOW run the video in real time and put a stop watch on it there is at least 25 secs from the time that the ref signals 1st down until the clock starts again!!!!
