    His name was Travis Daniels.

And Peterson is by far the best corner on the team. Maybe it is because he hasn't been coached by Malveto yet.

I wonder if Joe Robinson is in trouble. For a truly highly touted special teams whiz, I have not seen them make any significant gains this season.

Hawkins, I think it was, realized it was a fake but left his man because he thought it was a run. Pretty stupid.

I'm not so sure you can lay a lot of problems at his doorstep. Punting has been solid and LSU has been able to force opponents into bad starting field position plenty of times, but it's up to the D to make sure that's taken advantage of. As for punt return coverage, Ole Miss would have had about 10 yards less on many returns had our special teams guys known how to actually wrap up the ball carrier on a tackle instead of trying to hit him at full speed. That ain't gonna work on speedy return guys, and it goes back to the general lack of discipline often shown by this team, not anything specific to Robinson.

How many times has that happened this year. One way to stop it is to have the culprit sit out the game on the bench.

I could not agree more. Ole Miss usually caught the ball back at their 5 yard line and then were allowed to run it back to the 25 or 30 for no other reason than bad tackling. The sh**y tackling has been a pet peave of mine all year. We don't wrap up and finish a tackler. Too many times our defensive players seem content to simply "bump" a ball carrier, figuring he will fall down. Or they hand tackle or arm tackle. The result is the ball carrier often gains another 10 or 15 yards. This failure to tackle is just plain laziness.

If I am a highly recruited defensive player committed to play for LSU next year I have to feel good about my chances to see major playing time. On the other hand my confidence in the staff that will be coaching me is shaken. And the "strong adjustments" quote makes me wonder who will be my coach and how might my role with the team changes based on promises that were made to me by the current staff. If it has been my dream to play for LSU then none of it matters. But if I can play somewhere without all the coaching question marks in the off season I might be thinking twice about my decision. My hope is that this recruiting class sees it as an opportunity. We really need this class to stay committed and to return LSU to a contender. :geaux:

This team has shown us two things this year. First, our DC's our routinely outcoached and they always seem to have the wrong personnel on the field. I believe our defensive players have even lost faith in Peveto and Mallory. There has been little to no improvement all year. We allowed a freshman quarterback look like Brett Favre. Yes, he is a very talented quarterback but we just were not in his face enough. The second thing that our team has showed us this year is that they give up on too many plays. It seems that they just don't have the desire to make a tackle or make a big play. If Les Miles doesn't make a change at DC in the offseason, we will have the same troubles next year that we have had this year. If we have a bad year next year, it will be Miles on the hotseat and not Mallory and Peveto. I am tired of watching this team make the same mistakes over and over again. This loss makes me sick. I am fed up. :angryfire

Every player on the defense was highly recruited. The problem, IMO, is what has happened once they came to campus. The most troubling thought is that Miles has seen these coaches for the last three years and has not noticed the lack of development of the young talented players. We have athletes that were ranked higher at their positions in high school than Zenon, Jackson, and Steltz yet they are not performing close to the level at which those guys performed.
