I am a LSU grad who lives in Florida. and agree with shane0911. CLM has been here 10 years and we have to ask if the program is better today than when he took over. I don't think so. Ever since the loss to Bama in the national championship game we have been on a downhill slide. He is a decent recruiter, but loses too much Louisiana talent. His brain literally locks up in the last two minutes of a close game....time management is not in his vocabulary. I do not recall any game where we had a game plan that surprised the other team. If LSU were playing the Seattle Seahawks Les would still try to run the ball 50 times a game. Over 50% of the time my 21 year old daughter can predict the play we are going to run on offense just by looking at the formation. She does it week end and week out. I'm sure a lot of people will jump on me for negative comments about CLM, but he is at best an average coach, and unfortunately that will not cut it in the SEC West. Given the teams we play year in and year out, you need a coach who will give you the edge.
You guys actually listen to his pressers? I have not listened to a single presser since the Ole Miss loss last year. It was my last and will forever be my last.
This is not going to change, he is going to try to run the ball and when it doesn't work, because our O line couldn't move their bowels much less a defensive line, he will try it some more and some more and some more and some more.
Not sure what the best thread is for this since Miles and the coaching staff are mentioned in every thread concerning last night's game. In all seriousness, if Miles is that bad, who do Tiger fans want to see as a possible replacement? Are there any up and coming brilliant coaches who should get a shot? Established coaches at other programs who should be brought in? If so, let's hear it. Look, I realize that I was one of a very few last night who tried to be positive, and the pitchforks and torches mob let me have it. That's fine, it's a message board and everyone has their opinion. Am I happy with the way the game played out? Hell no! The Tigers were punched in the mouth by a team that was hungrier. Sometimes you have to give the other team credit, you know? All we can take from this now is hope that Miles and crew will learn from it and we are better for it -- and please don't start with "Miles is stubborn," "he will continue with vanilla offenses," "he will keep trying to force the run," etc. Let's hear something constructive as opposed to all the bitching and moaning. Geaux Tigers!
I'll never say replace Miles his record speaks for itself. But the dude needs to look himself in the mirror and realize his faults. He can't run over everyone.
What was worse than not game planning to throw deep and to throw often was that he didn't even make adjustments during the game when it painfully obvious MSU was more than up to the task of stopping the LSU run game.
Are short crossing/slant patterns over the middle in our playbook? Are screen passes in our playbook? Are passes to the TE in our playbook? I think I know the answers. Please confirm.
