I don't care who they hire, Coach Miles included. If that's what Coach Miles feels is best for him and his, he has my best wishes. I don't want to see him go but the world will keep turning. I'm not nearly as concerned about his decision, which I have no control over and must accept, as I do the timing of the deal. There has to be a way to do it right, whatever the decision. This is where Miles will show his character. May not be easy, but if it was easy to do it right, hell Saban could have done it.

    Sorry...let me clear/correct myself:

I never thought he would leave in the first place, but it would appear that even if there were truth to him wanting to leave, the timing of it just isn't going to work--and THAT alone should put all of us at ease....since, after all, half of the people on this forum are convienced that he wants to leave...

JMO, but I agree about the timing. I mean, why would Carr announce now if UM had it's cap set on acquiring Miles? Stands to reason that UM would delay such a move as long as possible if that were the case. Top-tier programs won't restrict themselves to looking at candidates with ties to the program ...... its way to competitive for such luxuries in today's environment.

My guess is that Miles knows he has a superb gig at LSU and he's sincere about staying. Now Pellini is another discussion altogether ....

.... and, yes, Mrs. Booty is schmokin' dayum hawt !

I watched it...as it happened. I don't think you can take from the presser that he doesn't want the job. I do however think you can tell he loves it here at LSU, and it's gonna be a very tough decision. I hope it's one he doesn't have to make. The presser convinced an already convinced Les Miles fan <me> that he's the real deal...and he'll be here a long time if he doesn't go to UM now. I want him to stay.:thumb:

My brother in law and I waited outside the locker room after the la tech game. We were getting autographs and as Pelinininininin signed a football he said, "are u sure you want me to sign it? It might make the value go down after this year." Wonder if he just thinks that he sucks or if he just knows that he'll be gone next year. My guess...he's gone. As for miles, I think he is parked in BR for the long haul. :)

I was thrilled to retain Pellini after last season so having him remain as our DC has been laginappe.

I'm NOT being all negative about losing coaches, but when you lose position coaches/coordinators, that's a testiment to your success.

Miles has done a helluva job bringing in good, if not great, assistant coaches/coordinators and I'm sure that with the talent level we have returning, LSU would be a great destination for a lot of talented defensive coordinators.

This looks like a strategy put forth by Carr and UM that will help dampen the Miles mania. Most fan polls show UM supporters solidly backing a Miles hire. No one will be forcing their hand, as these statements show, and in fact, they have done practically everything they can to make it miserable for Miles.

Oh, and did I read Carr will become an Asst AD? Sure it may be a job largely in title only, but it does mean he'll be around the department throwing around his 2 cents and whatever influence he wishes to muster. He's not retiring off to sunny Florida or a ranch in Montana. "I coached with him, yes" - what kind of statement is that? Not, "He's a fine coach, guiding a strong program...yada yada...but UM is responsible for..."

You know, the people who screw you the worst are often "family".
