Interesting info on the staff and their previous relationships:

Chavis, a Tennessee graduate, spent eight years coaching the Southwestern Athletic Conference, including a two-year stint from 1986-88 at Alabama A&M where he coached a promising young defensive lineman named Andre "Brick" Haley.

"He's been like a father figure to me," Haley said of Chavis. "I'm here with a guy who is my mentor that I love to death."

For Cooper, his ties with Haley started at home where the Hunstville, Ala. native and Jacksonville State (Ala.) graduate coached at Haley's alma mater Alabama A&M for three years. It's the same school where Cooper's parents taught for 35 years and his 89-year-old father still lives across from the university.

"It's very rare the connections we have," said Cooper, who first came into contact with Miles while Cooper coached at Notre Dame and Miles at Michigan. "Brick and I are both from Alabama and we both followed coach Chavis' career. I know he's solid."

Yeah, so you better not mess with us.........

Brick said he will turn this D-line group into a hardhat lunch pail group of hard working mofos.

Just what I wanted to hear.

It's such a great group of coaches, they have the potential to be one of the best at LSU.

    Yes!

I want us to get back to what we were in that 2003 season. We have the coaching staff in place to do just that.

They need to be introduced to Coach Moffitt. Looks like the "Fulmer" nutrician plan had an effect on the Chief!

Chavis has a reputation for being an EATING MACHINE. He can DESTROY a plate full of food. He will fit right in around Louisiana.
