If Miles wins the NC it's in his contract that he will be one of the top 3 paid coaches in the country.

However, renegotiating it earlier would affirm recruits (and the fans/media) that Miles is sticking around. And then if he goes on to win the NC this year I'd imagine it will still be in his contract to be one of the top 3 paid coaches in the country so if this deal isn't quite there it can be redone once again.

You have to wonder. I was thinking about that, and about Fran's aggy extension. I didn't mention them because I didn't want to imply that the situations were similar to Miles because of course they aren't.

Just seems right that a contract oughta be a contract. If you sign it, you live with it and meet the terms. Seems like were that the case, there wouldn't be so damned many coaches jumpin' around after every season.

What the heck, bring on the snuffies from r-kansas and let's rumble.

Who is saying they aren't going to honor the contract? As near as I can tell, the new deal would be more so that Miles doesn't go to Michigan than anything else. But even if he were to go to Michigan, it would be under the terms of his LSU contract.

Not sure I understand your rational as Saban makes $3.5M/year.

But don't let facts get in the way of your (blind) hatred.

Hows that loss to UL-M taste right about now? I'm betting you were wishing he was making $3.50 instead of all those zero's.

3.5 is the minimum, but it goes up each year he's at Alabama. He'll clear 4 million if he makes it to 2010 alive. This is, of course, not including other incentives and bonuses.

his kids probably go to public school because he is from the north and they don't worship private schools like people down here.

other than that, i too believe he's not in it for the money.
