The Picayune story today says that LM apologized for the performance and said it is the coaching staff's job to get the team to play better. Good sign. During the Bye Week, I'm betting that he re-evaluates the Offense. Being dead last in the SEC, with years of top 5 recruiting classes, will get his attention. Not to mention the $4 mil/yr. that looks less secure with every possession. I believe we'll see a lot of RS against Auburn and wouldn't be surprised if JL gets playing time too. With football coaches it ultimately comes down to self preservation (see Bobby Bowden) and that's why Miles will make the changes he needs to make.
I'll believe that when I see it. That has been said literally every week. My question is this. Why did we waste a scholly on Shep when we could've gotten a long snapper or punter instead? - I was listening on the radio, and they were commenting that there is no Percy Harvin type here tonight. I thought to myself, there is one...but he's riding pine on the LSU bench. Pitiful. I know he is a freshman...and he has fumbled a couple of times. But when NOTHING else is working, TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT!!! Damn I'm pissed. We should've won this game. If you had told me before that we would only lose to UF by 10...I would've been OK with that. But not like this. Our defense was outstanding...never giving up. But the offense...with an embarassment of wealth...was embarassing.
We didnt waste a scholly on Shep but we are wasting his red shirt year. For the amount of plays he's had its been a bad decision.
i just said the same thing in another thread. pretty sad they cant adjust their plan on the fly. they stick with it despite the results. dead last in the sec in offense coming in yet did nothing creative even with the number one boring team in town. we just out-bored them. if you cant pull out all stops in front of the biggest crowd in tiger stadium I dunno when you do. why must you lose before realizing the obvious is my question.
:geaux: Shep not being in the game AT ALL is what disappoints me the most about last nights game. No way he should've rode the pine the whole game. What happened to him getting the 10 - 12 touches like CLM said? Just figured last night was going to be his "coming out" and the opportunity for him to throw the ball. Just thought the staff had been keeping him under wraps the first few games before they turned him loose on the Gators. Obviously that wasn't the case. At least put him in as a decoy or in the slot and make UF think about him! We needed to use ALL our weapons on offense last night and missed an opportunity with Shep on the bench.:nope: :LSU231:
Blah, blah. Weve heard this after every game for the last two years. Yet each week we see a horribly coached team. An ill prepared team. A team that takes a step forward, only to take one right back. We seen some progress last week, but regression this week. Young or not, there is no reason for JJ to look this bad. Its a big game, give a series to Lee. Add to that you have a highly prized recruit wasting away in Shepard. Its worth the try for a spark. With Shepard we might run a bit more but we would have the advantage of misdirection. Shepard should have seen more time even if its at WR and RB. As for the OL. Well I know we lost Helms and Big Herm. Fact is we have the talent, they just lack the balls and fire themselves as a line. Plus they are a horribly coached group. I was never sold on Miles as great teacher and true coach. With the need for a teacher we are seeing his flaws. Lets also be honest. He isnt the best in game manager or time manager. Both are basic football traits. He is frivilous and often clueless. Just like our team. How is LSU supposed to be disciplined when its leader is lost at times. I dont think Miles is a bad coach. Just more and more I agree with bmy, that he has lost his desire since the title. Plus he just doesnt seem to be making any progress here. Again, I think UF is a step ahead of LSU. So I expected and could accept a loss. But this loss was just utterly pathetic. I just want progress! Also I defended Crowton, but Im starting to wonder on him too. Not so much the play calling or personel, because I believe thats more Miles but his QB coaching. JJ is not improving at all.
:geaux: Blah, Blah is right. Sounds like the AD needs to fire the whole staff and put you in charge.:rolleye33: We lost to a better team last night. Yes, mistakes were made. Take a deep breath and settle down. :LSU231:
Take off the purple and gold glasses for a sec. I said I expected to lose. What gets me though is the lack of progress. The killing ourselves with stupid penalties. That shouldnt still be happening. We lack discipline. LSU is NOT being coached up. Maybe you guys are blind to it because you feel its not cool to criticize and just accept whatever results. For me thats not the case. Id like to see some progress being made. Losing is OK but you still have to improve. You still have to put the best effort in competing. LSU isnt doing that.
Russell Shepard would NOT have been the answer for our problems last night. Period. Would he have possibly moved the ball a few times to prolong drives? Probably. But you're guys are idiots if you think that playing 1 greenhorn TRUE Freshman more than the 8-game-starter true Sophomore is the answer. Inexperience is inexperience. ...but there's only so many times that word applies to Jordan Jefferson. I've backed him in the past because it was warranted. But he's losing my support some. Against UGA, Jordan looked like he took major steps backwards from previous weeks. Missed open WR's, held onto the ball too long; took WAY too many sacks for a so-called "duel threat QB".... last night was no different.
