Interesting thread here. My thought is that this year may tell the tale of CLM's future and what kind of coach and recruiter he is. You have to put things into perspective. For all the great records CLM's has had before last year, every year was with CNS's recruits. I have no problems admitting that CLM's has won and done a better job with Nick's leftovers. Last year was the true beginning of CLM's era at LSU with most of his own recruits and players on the field. Gerry Dinardo was another coach here at LSU that won with someone else's players and had some good years here. I HOPE CLM's will succeed but I am somewhat disappointed because this program should've been pretty easy to maintain after the shape it was left in from the CNS era.
I am not ready to kick Miles to the curb. But, I do get sick of the lack of production and seemingly stupid decisions with games. See...game against Fla. where we didn't see Shephard at all. Play calling was abysmal. If Crowton is the play-caller for sure. Couldn't Miles just call him and say. Hey, what the "H" are you doing? Also, some of the decisions regarding organization have been questionable, see last season's two defensive coordinator debacle. THAT decision costs LSU to be generous, a better season. I remember members here, myself and others thinking that was a bad idea. So, we can realize this, but Miles can't. I like Miles and want him to succeed for LSU and for himself. He is a good man as has been said. But, can we please play our athletes, and discontinue the shy play we see esp. on offense? In other words. Try SOMETHING! Good grief, we didn't even sniff the end zone.
I think it's also safe to say Crowton was successful with Jimbo's leftovers. I seems Crowton can't find the sync the offense had in 2007
It seems like the rest of the SEC is getting better, but our play has declined. You can say what you want about wins and records, and 8-5 is not really a down year, and we are 5-1 and thats wonderful and all, but we have looked like absolute crap in those wins. The defense seems to be the only facet of this team that is getting better weekly. Special Teams has improved this year also. How much of this is on Crowton? Will he be back next season? Who replaces him if he doesn't?
Nope... he'll be gone barring some miracle like finding a 50pt. a game offense. Not sure who his replacement would be but i'd like to see us pull a guy like Boise States OC. Atleast he's creative.
Only LSU fans would debate getting rid of the head coach after the "disappointing" start of 5-1 with a top ten ranking and the one loss to the best team in the country...
