That's true enough. But Miles can not have failed to miss the ugliness the Michigan fans showed to Rodriguez, too. In $4-million-dollar-land, in the internet era, fans will be loud and ugly. True again . . . and another factor Les must balance. He has a fabulous record, fabulous recruiting and a crystal football that gives him a core of strong fan support at LSU that has kept his seat from ever getting hot. Three years of mediocre seasons with the team that got the last coach fired could land Les on the street at Michigan. Our last two coaches won national championships here and consistently recruited in the top 10. I don't think we will have much trouble stealing an established, ambitious coach from another BCS-conference school . . . just like the last two times. Better for Les to stay and become LSU's Bo Schembechler than to leave and become Michigan's Curley Hallman.
From what I understand, a good number of influential Michigan boosters did not want Rodriguez from the start, mainly because they did not want his style of football at the venerable Big House. Right now, a good number of them would not want Miles, mainly due to the (mostly) false impressions the media and idiot fans have generated. Les would need to win and win quickly there or his seat WILL get hot.
Better for Les to stay and become LSU's Bo Schembechler than to leave and become Michigan's Curley Hallman.[/QUOTE] Great line! Can anyone text that to Les or his family??!!! I think that could be a real possibility and him end an otherwise great coaching career end up crashing and burning. I heard Curley finally found work as a High School football coach somewhere...
true. but a very vocal minority of our fans got loud and ugly also. miles cannot have missed that in EITHER case, and maybe a contract for either is requiring that there be a legitimate and reasonable excuse for letting him go if he is fired from either place. i'd use this as an opportunity to cover my ass from unreasonable fans in either case!
Well said! I was with you on that, was new to the forums and had no right to be calling for anyone's head. I cautioned to wait 'n' see, and look what we got: an 11/2 season with really, really interesting football...and a coach who is so quirky that he's labeled a 'genius'...all of which increases the LSU & Death Valley mystique, neh?
Curley was HC at Muscle Shoals High School until he was fired a couple of years ago. He didn't stay there very long, and continued his losing ways, even on the HS level. [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curley_Hallman"]Curley Hallman - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] Won 7 games in two years. I saw that bastid at a restaurant when I was working there a couple years ago. I had an LSU hat on, and as I walked by his table, we made eye contact...and I just shook my head. :nope:
I can't read enough of the threads on Miles staying or leaving to have an opinion on what has been happening over the weekend. But it just seems crazy that he would leave LSU and go to Michigan because... RichRod has left the program weak and with players not suited to Mile's style of play. Very short time for Miles to recruit UM players. LSU has been way more revelent the last 15 years. It is a premier place to be. He has a good recruiting class coming in at LSU. We have seen tons of young talent play this year. They should only get better. Mett has already committed. We have a QB to either start or push JJ bigtime. I am sure all this has been discussed. The pull of his own college is something for sure. But I just can't see why he would think he could be successful there.
Thats great. If there never had been a Brett Favre, there never would have been a LSU Head Coach Curley Hallman. I hate Brett Favre.
