I've lost faith in Miles. His mistakes and shortcomings have been fixable since he got here. The fixes haven't happened and I don't see Miles suddenly developing talent, demanding excellence, or paying close attention to detail. We'll be Richt's Georgia, Fulmer's Volunteers, Coker's Cane's until Miles leaves. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm betting I'm not. I don't rush to conclusions and I haven't rushed to this one. The Gators looked soft. I think Meyer is one of the best coaches out there, but he's not perfect and was exposed by Saban. He gets more benefit of the doubt based on what he has done at Florida the past few years (dominant performances, not just W/Ls). Maybe QBs made Meyer, but I'm guessing his team will be back next season and play well in their bowl. Miles hasn't been as impressive in the eyes of most unbiased observers. I think this is about right... Oh wait, you were being sarcastic, I think... That's why Shula and Dinardo are always being mentioned in connection to the top jobs out there. /sarcasm I criticized Saban while he was here and thought his running the ball into the pile toward the 7 minute mark against Florida was pretty weak. I wouldn't want Carroll, Stoops, or Mack Brown at LSU. Totally agree. Not real interested in Spurrier these days. I'd consider Tuberville, though.
the guy with a whopping 1 SEC title and a whole 2 division titles in 14 seasons as a head coach in this league? I'm sure the fan base would be ecstatic over those results
Don't forget the cigars and stomping on the eye. I'd still consider him, though, same as I'd consider Saban.
i'm just looking at on field results. if what Miles has done here is enough to get fans discussing his future replacement, Tuberville type results would cause them to burn down the Stadium.
Saban isn't being judged by what he did at Miami. Get it? He is being judged by how much he improved Michigan State, LSU, and Alabama. Prior to Saban I had given up on LSU ever winning another National Championship in Football. A half century of Charlie Mac, Archer, Hallman, and Dinardo will do that to you. Saban woke up a lot of fans by proving LSU could play with the big boys. I'm not longing for Saban to return to LSU. It want happen. I don't believe that he is the only coach that can keep LSU at the top of the SEC race and win another National Championship. I don't belive Miles can keep LSU competive. I hope that I am wrong.
Yep, I loved how we hung half a hundred on his MSU team in the '95 Independence Bowl. For the 50th time in this thread: Miles IS keeping LSU competitive.
:geaux: Agree, but unfortunately the Miles haters will never admit that no matter what the results show. I'm convinced that CLM could go undefeated and they would still bitch, whine, complain and call for his head. :nope: They long for change for changes sake. And many are still stuck on Saban ( in more ways than one) and long for him to return somehow.:rolleye33: I caution those who long for change after 51 wins in five years, 1 BCS NC, 1 SEC C, 4 - 0 bowl record and top recruiting classes each year to be careful what they wish for 'cause they might get it. Look where Michigan is now. RichRod was supposed to be a savior. Look what happened to Nebraska after they fired Frank Solich, who only won 50+ games in five years but lost a NC game. So they hired that Callahan character as coach and Nebraska ain't been the same program since. Pelini may be turning that around, but the Husker's ain't nearly at the level they once were. And boy, Old Piss sure made a great move firing David Cultcliffe one year after a 10 win season and Cotton Bowl win. Orgeron sure was a worthy successor wasn't he. So much for wanting "the program to go in a different direction." All of them surely did didn't they. Again, that grass ain't always greener and be careful what you wish for. LSU has a chance for 10 WINS THIS SEASON for the fourth time in five years! Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't think that's moving in the wrong direction at all.:thumb: :LSU231:
