You do if your senior QB is getting the job done. Mettenberger was more of an insurance policy than a quick-fix.
I'm not sure what football games you've been watching but 7 seconds is a long damn time. 8 seconds is one bad ass O line. You find one that will provide a pocket for 9 seconds and my old fat ass could complete passes all day long.
Pretty much what I was getting at. Our passing game will look better and more polished than last year I suspect, though the yardage numbers may not be what some are hoping for. I was just saying that anyone (not necessarily you) expecting to see an LSU QB consistently put up 200+ yards in the air every week is smoking rope. It's not Miles' style and that won't change no matter who's taking snaps. The good news is, I don't think it will need to. :thumb:
We did exactly that in 2007. I don't think Miles is as rigid as some think. I think he's very much willing to adapt to the strengths of his teams, and that's part of what makes him a great coach. CSK has a pretty good history or airing it out a bit, so we may see a bit of that if we're capable.
Someone mentioned last year (not sure if true) that after JJ threw the pass on the 1st drive of the W. Virginia game that went right through T. Toliver's hands, we had over 40 straight 1st and 10's that were either running plays or a pass under 10 yds. Whether JJ or Mett is under center, hopefully we aren't as predictable as the last couple of years. With the weapons at WR & TE along with better offensive coaching, I'm expecting more games of 200+ passing than games under 200 yds. I prefer opening it up more early in the game and pounding it with the run later. Or at least opening it up more than we've seen in recent years.
