He beat 5 National Championship winning coaches in the same season. One who in considered the best coach in the game today and another that is supposed to be the second coming of Bear Bryant.
As always I am a bit late! But I do feel like letting you know that was a very well written and convincing article about Miles:thumb: Very nice indeed. I was just thinking if Miles is at the level of deity that Saban enjoyed while he was heere. I think he surpassed that considering the fact that he had maintained a tremendous winning record the past three years with great hires and recruiting. One main thing that he separates himself from Saban, at least in my eyes, is his personality and integrity. That makes him very likeable both for the fans and players alike.:milesmic: Like another post earlier, I don't care if there are some ups and downs in the upcoming seasons (since there are so many intangibles in football, like in any sports), I am pretty much sold on Miles as one of my all time favorite coaches.
I think another aspect of Miles personality we have not touched on in this thread is the impact of his decision NOT to take the Michigan job, and to remain at LSU. As a Mich. man, and an alum, and Mich. is a great school, he had to consider the job. I think everything had to be right at  for him to stay here. He had to like the university and athletic dept. people, his budget (ability to get things done, like hire good assistant coaches), talent level and brand of high school football played in the state, receptivity of recruits in the surrounding states to accept a scholly to LSU!. It all had to be in good order, or he'd have been outahere. The fact that he chose to stay says loads about what he thinks he has. No recruit has to wonder if he'll be gone next year. He had his opportunity to go, and he chose to stay. He did not make the easy or the obvious choice. I think he made a calculated football coaches choice. That indicates to me he's a "thinking coach", and a practical guy. I believe he said  is the destination, not a step on the way. Way to go, Coach Miles!
One other factor that I thought was also in the mix with his "early" decision to stay before the SECCG/NC game is that: he had stated clearly and with emotion in a PC late in the season that he would never do anything to hurt his team (one that he really seemed to care for). Geaux :milesmic:
