Tigers are loners, they don't bond with their mates, sex is a catfight not a loving act, when it's over they want no part of each other. It's risky business breeding tigers, artificial insemination is the norm... some years ago at a Sacramento zoo, a female was brought to a male, they were kept in close quarters, but separate for months, until the keepers were sure they'd get along, finally they let them together,.. he killed her in less than a minute.
