Really, I didn't assume. I am happy to assign it to a mistake in recall. My questions/comments then, are that Great Cats was not a sanctuary. Far from it. They were/are? a broke exotic prison with multiple complaints and investigations. Why would they donate when they needed money desperately? The current Mike was an unintended breeding at Great Cats.....either they suck at taking care of exotic animals or they allowed it with the intention to sell somewhere for profit and keep their doors open. Legit sanctuaries are not likely to donate an exotic cat to LSU. Animal rights groups will pressure just about every potential donor to make sure a donation doesn't happen. I understand why LSU won't pay for one...at that point, it would look like support for a shady operator. I think the best option is to find a "sanctuary" that is financially tanking and see if they have a viable cat for donation.
