So, Mike Slive is going to retire July 2015. On one hand I'm damned glad to see him go. He's the guy who has presided over a conference that's been in existence since the 50s and still can't figure out a fair and equitable way to determine their conference champion, the officiating debacle of a few years ago, the engineered scheduling that gave Alabama the advantage that led to them winning the SEC Championship and now one of LSUs recruits being held in limbo (they're just sitting on that IMO). He has certainly not been a friend to LSU. On the other hand I dread listening to the talking heads drone about what a godlike creature he is and how he is responsible for 7 national championships and on and on, blah blah blah. On top of that there's a chance that Mark Womack could be the next commisioner. (I'm going to be sick) So, here's a picture of him. Notice where's standing. http://www.bizjournals.com/birmingh...-on-birminghams-place-in.html?s=image_gallery
Good riddance to bad rubbish. They can bury him next to Bear Bryant for all I care, then I can piss on 2 graves at once.
Not wanting to take the minion view here, but that whole operation needs to cut its ties to Bama. Too many shitty calls, too may BS Schedules for too long. Get the hell out of Dodge!
Georgia doesn't have the SEC pull that 'Bama does or even Auburn for that matter. The SEC should have it's headquarters in Atlanta right next to the CFB Hall of Fame.
While I think it would be great, it is not a central location - A&M makes it closer but it certainly would not be considered neutral by the rest of the league. You and I know that is not a historical fact based upon Sugar Bowl selections in the past, but the ATL makes more sense at least to me. As long as it is not in Alabama anymore I will be happy. Springfield, Missouri is a nice city also.
