He joined the ranks of incredibly stupid decision making along with Andy Reid in the game today. On 4th and 1 at the Chicago 42 and just under 2 minutes to go, he elects to go for it as opposed to punting it and pinning Grossman back inside the 20. The Bears would have played it conservatively and Seattle would have gotten the ball back with a minute to go with the ball around midfield after the Chicago punt. You just failed on your second 3rd and 1 of the day. What made you think you would convert 4th and 1? Goodness you blew your best chance with that decision. And yes I was bitching about the decision BEFORE the play took place.
I didn't think it was a bad decision. Just didn't work out. You've gotta think with Shaun Alexander that your chances of getting a yard are better than the defense getting the ball back that quickly. Play to win.
They were 0 for 3 in those situations. So much for Alexander being your weapon in those situations. Had they been converting those I would say that was the right move. But they just failed on 3rd and one. It was pretty fresh in their memory that they just couldnt get the job done.
That's why the play the game though. Let your guys line up and try to get it done. Sure, that can be like kicking a brick wall, but I've never known Alexander to never be able to get a single yard once in a while. It didn't help that the play was doomed when the snap was sloppy.
Both teams did not want to win that game. Very sloppy play at the end. I stick to what I said BEFORE the playoffs started, the Saints beat Philly and they go to the Super Bowl. The Bears SUCK. Their coach SUCKS. Grossman STILL SUCKS. Saints win 31-17!
I thought it was a good decision... Whats easier? - Get 1 yard or - Punt, make a team go three and out, get into field position...again. The Bears didn't do anything with it and the Seahawks had a chance to get into FG possition again. Also, they got ball 1st in OT and had a chance to win. Not to mention they were the underdog on the road. Sounds like a good call in my book.
