That same play worked to perfection against Ole Miss after the onside kick putting us in position to get the go ahead field goal, and you all know what happened after that. I don't really mind the play call as long as the offense knows they must get to the line and spike if the first down isn't gained. Lafell shouldn't have dropped the ball he should have given it to the official, then Hitt wouldn't have gotten that stupid penalty. This whole team has clock issues. It seems like they just go stupid under 2 minutes and either are way too conservative (Arkansas) or way too reckless and idiotic. (Ole Miss, Penn St. )
It wasn't too long ago that Jimbo was getting the blame for the lack of offense and Pellini was blamed for the laid back defense. They are both gone, and having some success I might add, and we are still bumbling toward mediocrity.
Some things are so genius that they are not recognized as being such the first time they are displayed for the world to see. It may take many years for this call to be seen an genius. Many many...
Shouldn't there have been a delay of game penalty called against Penn St. on that play because they wouldn't get off of the ball and LSU players so they could line up. When I saw them throw the flag thats what I thought they were calling. It should have been a delay of game penalty against the defense. The time should have been adjusted and the ball marked off. But once again college officials call a questionable PF against Hitt and basically remove any remote chance of LSU pulling out a victory.
unfortunately i think that is a judgement call, but i would have thrown the flag on Penn St. also. I have never seen someone get flagged for pulling people off piles when there is a fumble and it happens all the damn time. Pac 10 officials suck, and i am beginning to wonder if any conference has good officials.
