Not the mythical wizard! I didn't say 10 of 10. Hell 4 of 10 is probably where we should be. Maybe 5 but I would not have balked at 4. Where are you getting this win every game nonsense? Show me where I have ever said that?
Conversely, he's lost to everyone in the west since he took the job: sans Arkansas. 13-11 in conference play doesn't justify his salary. (3-3 vs eastern division.) —— To add a note: I'm all behind schools retaining coaches when the possibility exists they'll get poached. Take earlier comments about Butch at UT: there has been significant talk of other schools showing interest. In the case of A&M it's one of the most intriguing storylines I've seen. They chose to "invest" five million to retain Sumlin. They've seen an influx of financial support since that 2012 season. Is it an ROI with Sumlin, or Manziel?
3-1 is a winning record against Tubs. Miles certainly didn't destroy him. The last W against a Tubs team was in 2008 which also happened to be the year he was fired for winning one conference game. The 2007 win was against a 5-3 Auburn team (in SEC play) and only one of those five SEC wins came against a team with a record better than .500. The 2005 W was significant considering it was Auburn's only conference loss—a loss by three points. Should the point of Auburn losing its entire starting backfield be considered? Your call. Just putting things in context a little here...we're talking about a school that's put together back-to-back, 10 win seasons once in their history. We're also talking about a period of time under Tubs that their conference record was under .650 (@.630 as I recall.)
You continue to speak of Bama (refusing to utter the words, instead using "they who shall not be named") as if what they've achieved is an unreasonable expectation for us Cajun folk. Bama was in a dark place before Saban; they did not look back at those teams behind them and puff up and say... "We could be worse," they shot for the moon and eventually passed us. We were knocked off the top of the hill and should not fight to get back up? That seems antithetical to a competitive spirit.
Word is out a&m is making an offer for Chief. Sumlin likes what he does on that side of the ball. Should Chief leave?
