I may have missed it here...but has anyone heard about the "Million Miles March"? It was organized by members of "another" LSU message board, but I think it's kinda cool. Read about it below.

If Less leaves, (and I hope he doesn't) I don't think we need to wait to settle it after the NC game, if we're in there.

Too many other schools need coaches, we'll be behind the 8 ball looking for a coach, and it'll hurt recruiting.

If he goes, go quick, don't leave this dragging on, like our last coach.

I'm hoping that he stays. The SEC is better with Miles in it. I'm sure you could bring in someone with a great resume, but not many people have the fire that Miles does.

I agree. Though you and others may change your mind if he keeps improving his recruiting classes...

I want Bama to rise to LSU's level, not the other way around. More power to him.

Good post Fishhead -- a lot of good thoughts here.
Ok, and by the by, nice forum you have here . This is my 1st post on this board-- had to see what you all were saying about this coaching issue. I am a U-Michigan Alum and hoping for the best match for a new Football Coach here in Ann Arbor.

I know what you and others have mentioned about Les Miles being a 'Mich.Man' , as well as the LSU Man reference , but I would actually be suprised if this all comes down and Miles becomes the new coach here in Ann Arbor. I am agreeing with you on the finance part of your rational -- I do not think the U-M will pay for Les Miles, especially if LSU wins the BCS Title Game . He will command too high a $$$ figure .

Your next point I also agree with --- the "emotional presentation side" of the coach . Lloyd contains the emotion pretty well , although he has his subtle moments of expression. I would see Les Miles form of expression as a breathe of fresh and much needed "fiery" air frankly, but I don't think that is what the U-M hiring guard is looking for . Now don't get me wrong -- BO was "Fiery" and all , and much beloved by all up here , but if they hired Miles, then all the comparisons with BO would occur , and I just don't think they want to go there with that .

I don't agree with the family factor though -- their daughter would make a very positive adjustment here in Ann Arbor. Don't know what grade she is in but U-M Swimming team is Olympic renowned and she would have top notch coaching etc.

The U-M recruiting process is a machine period-- they restock, reload with the best of them. That is not a problem.

So just wanted to throw my thoughts into the mix here.

Hope you all have a great holiday and I know LSU is on the RADAR round these parts now -- and we will be pulling for LSU !!

Why don't you ask the coach at Alabama if he'd take the Michigan job? He's familiar with the state. And he obviously enjoys moving."

    that would be the day :rolleye33: :rolleye33: :rolleye33: :rolleye33:

What is the rule for contacting college coaches? Does Michigan have to wait for all teams that are going to bowl games to play out their bowl game?

That would suck for UM, since you would think they would go after a coach that is successful this year (and with a track record of course), which means they are in a bowl game.

    great point

maybe he will jump ship again

Michigan won't touch him however, he was the leader of the enemy back in the day (Mich. St.). Plus, he sucks.

I read in an article, maybe this morning, that touched on the subject. There's no NCAA rule prohibiting contact but a "gentlemans agreement" in place that no direct contact with a coach with games remaining be made. The "gentlemens agreement" also strongly recommends contacting the coach's AD before any contact is made.
