Re: Saban open to talks with LSU

Semantics, but he called the guy who said it on the air.

But, you couldn't be more spot on about him. I don't read his columns, no real reason to. But, he's been in the business a long, long time and has his share of contacts.

Got a little cash with his wife's job too... :hihi:

Okay, I'll bite, fanatic. If you have been talking to players, HOW do they feel about what's happening, and do they feel it will affect the game tomorrow negatively?

Let's say for the sake of argument that CLM did address the players to let them know he's leaving. Is it possible to think that the players would want to play their absolute best, to finish on a high note sending the coach out with a huge "W", plus knowing they can win the SEC to boot? Also, knowing the outcome of the coaching situation can reduce some of the stress and anxiety the players might be feeling, and let them relax a bit.

I wonder if the Arky players knew of CHN's plans, they sure played a whale of a game last Friday -- maybe that was an extra motivating factor for them. It seems as though it might be possible, especially given how quickly the Ole Miss announcement came...

Who really knows any of this for sure...

I was just sitting here talking about that very thing!

25 awesome seniors playing in their last chance for an SEC Championship, in the last game with their coach. Could be an interesting motivational technique. Maybe our Tigers will be EXTRA fired up!!!

i think everyone remembers that miles didn't say goodbye to his players at okie st when coming here and it ruffled feathers.
miles is a good guy deep down and isn't going to make that mistake twice. if it's true then i think it was a good thing.

I don't believe it. I certainly think it possible that Miles discussed the situation in some (vague) terms and that some players interpreted what he had to say. But, do you really think that Miles could/would make such a statement to his team before the biggest game of the year? And do you think if he did tell 70+ players (plus who knows how many others such as coaches, managers, hangers on) that it would not be all over the news now?

Let's use a little of our reasoning ability here (Ramah, you're excused from this exercise) and think it through.

That doesn't exactly read like I wanted it to.

They did not think the coaches were not focused, I did. They were telling me not to worry that the team was definitely focused.

It was a quick 3 minute conversation. No elaboration.

If it were me, I don't know what I would think about this. In a way I would probably appreciate the honesty. But in another way I think if he said nothing, and I like the coach, which these guys do, I would maybe think that a great performance may sway his decision in some way.

I don't know. Tough situation for the players.
