    he isn't going.

the people who think he is/will are more obsessed than the Detroit Free Press.

Why can't you all believe a man is telling the truth when he has done everything in his power to prove that what he is saying is indeed the truth?

He very, very easily could have gone the Nick Saban rout and denied anything about Michigan until Jan 8, but he didn't. He made it a point to say he WASN'T GOING.... that's something he didn't have to do.

And for those of you who think he is the usual "car salesman" type who just tells you what you want to hear, then you truly don't know coach, b/c he wouldn't do that.

    Edit:
    He loves both places, but:

    1. the money will be better here
    2. the team will be better here
    3. the personal pressure will be less here (pressure of coaching at alma-mater)
    4. the weather will be better here

As silly as it sounds, No. 4 really is a big reason. Miles' wife is the ultimate soccer mom. They love having their kids involved in virtually every sport imaginable and Coach has said numerous times how they love that there is no "snow-season" in Louisiana.

It seems to me that Michigan thought their name alone would be enough to get a coach up there. That is exactly the type of hubris and stubbornness that has gotten them to where they are today.

All Michigan has to do is look at Nebraska, another cold weather school. Nebraska has figured out coaches will not come to Nebraska because "They are Nebraska". It's looks like yet another high profile program has to painfully figure this out. This time around Nebraska started working on this early by bringing back Dr. Osborne and then went after one of the more successful team coordinators in Bo Pelini. Comparing how Nebraska handled their coaching search to Michigan makes Michigan look pretty weak.

:LSU231: I think if Coach Miles had really wanted the Michigan job it would already be done. He's not going now. If he was, why go through all the trouble of saying very publicly, many times, of how he was "home" and staying at LSU? Also, why go through the process of signing a contract extension?
I agree that he's staying not only because of the LSU program and all the plus's that has right now, but also because of his family. I've several articles over the last couple of weeks saying how happy his wife and kids are here. His family's happiness is high on his priority list and they seem to love B.R.
I don't think money was that much of a motivating factor for Coach Miles. He knew he was getting a big raise from the current contact.
Finally, if he left now his credibility and reputation would be worse than Saban's is and I don't think Miles is that type of guy. After all he's said and done about staying at LSU, if he left no one would ever believe a word he said! With this guy, his word is his bond and means a great deal. That's rare in the College Football coach's world these days and we should feel very fortunate that he's staying.:geaux: :crystal:

Is that what you want? You've been quite the sensationalist in all of your threads and trying to point out potential negative schemes against LSU though you seem to be pro LSU in your roots. The Michigan Press is Obsessed with Miles is your heading. Here is the only mention of Miles in your article:

If that is obsession then psychiatrist will have an easy cure. Do you want LSU to fail? Is that your goal? If not, then why do you try and spin this anti LSU?

I, for one, see the upside in this. I see Michigan making a mistake and Les showing his integrity. I see Miles being a true coach and leader. I see character in a head coach that other teams in this country only wish they could have. He might not be the best at x's and o's but any young high schooler out there can only take this as positive. Let Saban deal his lies. Miles will trump with sincerity.

Miles sees your devil's advocate and raises you purity in heart. You can't even play.

Excellant post. Miles handled this situation perfectly every step of the way. He showed nothing but class and integrity that seems so rare in college coaches these days. It really couldn't have worked out any better for Coach Miles and for LSU. It really is great to be a tiger fan these days.
