The year was 2013. Arizona stayed home with a record of 10-6 while Green Bay (8-7-1) got an autobid by winning a weak division and San Diego (9-7) got in based on conference affiliation. The NFL doesn’t get the best teams in, the bastards.
10-6 is not one of the best teams. This year the best teams are the Saints, Rams, Chiefs, Chargers, Patriots, Texans and Bears who are all in the playoffs. There are othe teams in the playoffs who are not as good but no good team was left out. No team that has won at least 12 games has ever been out and the only 11 win team ever not to make it was the Patriots when Matt Cassel had to play for the injured Tom Brady.
UGA is the 13th team in this scenario... The year Seattle won it all, one of the 12 “best” teams got left out similar to UGA this year. BTW, idgaf about Arizona or UGA, I’m fine with how the NFL determines their champion (maybe a few tweaks), and I support an 8-team CFB playoff that probably would have let UGA in.
Arizona was “better” than Green Bay and San Diego that year and got left out. UGA was “better” than ND but got left out. I think diversity is important; so does the NFL.
