Call me a crackhead, but I say LSU can get this kid to show interest if he turns out to have D-1 skills...

Think about it, if he really wants out of the shadow, he will keep out of the state of North Carolina and Illinois - maybe pass on the Big 10 completely.

    Who was his dad's idol?
    It was Pete Maravich.

Why did his dad wear 23?
    Pete Maravich.

You saw it here first, this kid will consider LSU.

I would take him for the pure exposure. Even if he isn't 1/100th as good as his dad, imagine the coverage we would get with him on the team...

BB, you might be correct on the above, but I have never seen anything in print to corroborate it.

In fact, I can't ever remember MJ ever mentioning Pete.

The only great NBA players that I have seen effusively praise Pete were Isiah Thomas and Charles Barkley.

Isiah has openly said that Pete was his idol, and even Magic Johnson has said some nice things about Pete.

BTW I still hate on Dan Issel for his always disparaging remarks about Pete. Ol' Dan was just p*ssed he didn't get the attention he thought he deserved at UK because of Pete....

    1. If he wants in at UNC he's getting a spot - not even negotiable.

    2. You may never find written proof of MJ praising Maravich, but I know for a fact that it's true. He chose 23 because of Maravich and the Pistol was his childhood idol. It may have been mentioned in Come Fly With Me - either way, I know that he communicated both of those facts to the Maravich family directly on several occasions.

    3. Exposure - can you even imagine? Michael Jordan in the P-MAC, Michael Jordan in Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night visit, Michael Jordan pimping an LSU cap with David Toms at celebrity golf tournaments, etc... It would be fun to say the least.

I am not so sure. With NC going to sign a good bit of recruits because of the departures, I wouldnt be shocked if he wasn't offered.

Since you said to call you a crack head - you're a crack head! First off, why would Michael Jordan want to send his son to play for John Brady? What has Brady ever done to get anyone to say - Dammit, I want my son to play for that guy! Second, I think UNC and Roy Williams would go out of their way to find a spot for MJ's kid, if for no other reason than to just have MJ around the program.
I will agree with you it would be great to see MJ hanging out in Baton Rouge and sporting LSU gear, but I can't even conjure any possible scenario of why MJ would want to subject his son to being coached by John Brady.

Now this is something to get excited about.
If Brady couldn't pack the arena or win with this guy he should be run out of the state
    of Louisiana!

Yeah, exposure is the real problem with LSU men's hoops, it's the exposure, yeah.

I don't know where some people come up with this stuff.

By the way, here's a link to a story on him...

If he went anywhere but the state of North Carolina and the ACC for basketball, I would be shocked.
