I'll have to go back and double check, but I believe Ford competed against Joe McKnight in the 100 in T&F. As I recall, he had times very close to Joe's and maybe beat him once. Point is, he's not slow.
He probably beat Joe after seeing Joe get chased down in the Rose Bowl game by Vernon Davis' brother Vontae looked like he got slower.
I've heard he ran a 4.5 on a slow track a while back (I forget where, though), so hes probably in that 4.4-4.5 range, which is definitely fast enough for his running style.
Are we about to receive our 1st 2009 commit from Michael Ford? http://louisianastate.scout.com/a.z...uisianastate.scout.com/a.z?s=107&p=2&c=728151
would definitely hope we start especially the way USC and Texas is moving they have 6 already with another coming while I type
Texas always gets early recruits. That's how Mack Brown has recruited for a while by locking up early commits wherever possible. LSU hasn't even had their junior day and Miles doesn't really seem to like early commits if it means the recruits is still going to go on official visits. Maybe uscvball can chime in on why USC is taking in alot of early commits this year. Is it a reaction to an increased UCLA effort?
Ford's time in the 100-meters a year ago as a sophomore was consistently in the 10.5 to 10.6 range with a best of 10.46. He won the Class 4A regional meet, but a hip flexor injury kept him from competing at 100 percent in the state meet last year.
