I didn't mean that he isn't versatile, just that he isn't versatile in the same way that Ridley & Hester are. He looks like a brusing TB w/ very good athleticism, but that doesn't make him a Hester type FB.

I can't answer that. All I know is that it looks like he's capable of it from his videos.

The way we use Hester is different. The rest of our FBs are used just like every other school's.

Well, if you believe the chatter, the problem isn't that he isn't capable of blocking. It's that he isn't willing to block. From the chatter, on plays where he is called upon to block, he half-asses it and basically takes the play off. The knock on him is that he's uncoachable, lazy, not a team player, and generally a bad character on and off the field.

Oh, I agree with you that Hester and Abernathy are completely different, while each are athletic. I just meant he was like Hester in terms of skill, especially when you look at your standard FB.

However, I'd put Ridley closer to Abernathy. I was able to watch him a few times in high school and he is just huge, and athletic. I'd be surprised if he didnt finish his career as a LB.

Yea, I've read that. I believe that there's a degree of truth to it, but Sonny says he has turned around his grades & I believe that gives hope to him having turned around his work ethic on the field as well.

If it were completely or mostly true we wouldn't take a commitment from him.

He is projected at FB though. He is ranked the #1 FB. Most of FBs dont become 4*s unless they committ to a major school. Even then, only 2 or 3 a year become 4*s.

But I wouldnt be surprised if he stayed a 3* if he really is uncoachable and has grade issues.

I really hope he changes his attitude because his stats are amazing.

Abernathy recorded 455 rushing attempts for 3,147 yards and 36 touchdowns. Abernathy also has 166 receptions for 1,934 yards and 24 touchdowns.

2000 reception yards. I would say he has pretty good hands out of the backfield.

Difference in high school and college, in high school, he's so much better than the kid behind him, he's gonna play even if he won't block. In college, the kid behind him is pretty darn good, and if he doesn't do what he's told, he'll sit. I think you can get him motivated better in college. If it works out, you could find a diamond in the rough, if not, in a year, tell him it didn't work out.
