The Hornets broke the Nuggets' 15-game win streak last night, and they did it without Gordon and Vasquez.
How quickly things change. Only 9 months ago, the Heat were still being ridiculed for the previous season's collapse against Dallas and struggling to even get past the Pacers in the playoffs. Then Lebron went from being barely the best player in the world to the now undisputed King (with the ring). He follows that up with some of the best all-around play anyone has ever seen this year. How quickly can things change again? If the Heat do not win the championship this year, they will likely still be considered a failure given their big Miami introduction party ("not 4, not 5, not 6"). Especially if they break the 33 game record but fail to win it all. The haters would be back in full force, and perhaps rightfully so given how good Lebron has become.
Sadly there is no one to stand in their way. I was hoping my Thunder would man up this year but for some unknown reason Scott Brooks has a torrid homo 3way going with Kendrick Perkins and Derrick Fisher. One of those 2 should see very limited minutes and NONE vs. the Heat and the other should be wearing a suit and his only job being to calm down "0". Oh and he refuses to play a zone even after the Mav's blueprinted the only way to beat Miami to the world. LBJ gets #2
A zone will get absolutely torched with 3 point specialists Chalmers, Allen, Battier and James. Allen 42.7 % Battier 42.7 % Chalmers 41.7 % James 39.1 % And more 3 point shooters waiting in the wings if called upon: Lewis 41.8 % Miller 35.8 % Jones 35.7 % A team average of an unheard of 39.2 % This is not the same team as the past 2 years when they could not consistently hit outside shots.
Streak over at 27. Probably a good thing for the Heat. The energy needed to sustain that run when taking everyone's best shot is a true grind. Now they can relax a bit, focus on getting home court, and coast until playoffs.
Thats how you beat them frustrate Lebron, he is use to bulldozing in the lane and nobody can breathe on him without getting a foul. If they are going to call it put him on his ass.
Didn't get to see the game last night but was thinking this morning on my drive to work that I'd like to see the Spurs match up with the Heat in the finals. I've always respected the Spurs but rarely pulled for them. Duncan mentioned a couple of weeks ago that his knee is suddenly pain-free. Parker is back from his injury and looked good against the Rockets recently. The Spurs are obviously well coached and it would be a fitting end to their Duncan-led run over the past decade+. It would be a big contrast in styles and I honestly believe the Spurs could be up to the challenge. *I also think the Thunder could give the Heat a challenge if they get to the Finals again.
Spurs and Heat would def be a great matchup. The Spurs have choked in the playoffs in recent years but Timmy D is playing a lot better now. The West is just so stacked. If the Grizzlies get to the finals, I think they could take down the heat. They have size and great defenders to matchup with the heat.
