But get this, they had already hired Dom Capers as their DC several days ago at the tune of 2.7 million per year (3 year deal). The head coach (Cameron) is going to be paid 2.5 million per year (4 year deal). This is really a dysfuntional family.
Listening to local radio here in South Florida, some interesting Saban tidbits: 1) He basically put Randy Mueller (GM) on mute the 2 years he was here, yet complained that he didn't have the right personnel to be successful 2) Saban called Braylon Edwards to tell him he was their pick in the 2005 draft (2nd pick overall) but then selected Ronnie Brown
Signing Capers before hiring the HC makes no sense to me. Seems like the tail wagging the dog. Maybe Huizenga was concerned about Capers getting a HC gig, and wanted to lock him up. I don't know though, that just seems damned strange. I've heard that too, and have yet to get any more info on it. Brown made a lot more sense, so I'm not sure why he would call Edwards. Water under the bridge...I'm just hoping they can get quickly upgrade their personnel, and that Cameron can get the offense going. It's pretty much predicated on Culpepper's knee, which should benefit greatly from the extra rehab time. I'm not sure why folks are throwing dirt on Culpepper though. I guess modern sports fans (and many journalists) have the attention span of a tadpole.
