I am just trying to think back to when a team that jumped from 20 to 9 with a win over a top 15 team at home. I don't think I have ever seen that. The AP loves them some Canes. They NEED them in the top 10, I 'spose. It makes them feel better. The score was 33-17. It wasn't 63-0. I don't think that type of "correction" in the polls was warranted. We'll see when this "unstoppable" offense and Heisman winning QB goes up against Bud Foster's defense in Blacksburg this Saturday. I suspect they will be in for a rude awakening.
Im not on the train, i just see them up close alot. Harris is pretty good, the ACC really lacks in the defense area except in Blacksburg, but I think it will be close with Miami pulling it out. Honestly they look like one of the best teams in the nation right now.
This game is critical to the success of their season. If they lose, then they are looking at back to back losses when OU comes to town with a healed up Bradford. That's a 2-2 record and back to square one.
They will possibly lose to Oklahoma, but dont count on Bradford being the real Bradford in that game, coming back from that kind of injury. I still havent gotten an answer on that bet.
I don't know what to make of Miami yet. Both Miami and the whole ACC have been so astonishly disappointing over the last few years that I'm having a hard time buying into the Miami hype. I'll wait until after Miami hosts Oklahoma in two weeks before I form an opinion of them. If Oklahoma ends up beating Miami 42-10, nobody will be taking about Miami anymore. As for their QB, same thing: I saw him have a great game against GT, but I not believing that he'll ever be close to being a Heisman candidate (now that sophomore QB Mallet for Arkansas, that's a different story). As much as I hate how obnoxious Miami fans are (they've been running their mouths like they are the 2009 National Champions even before they beat GT), one silver lining to Miami being a Top 10 team, being "back," is that it'll make it a harder for Urban Meyer to cherry-pick all the best talent in Florida. Florida's avg star rankings for recruiting class is too high... Rivals 2010 -- 3.80 (LSU has 3.55, Bama 3.48, Georgia 3.50) 2009 -- 3.94 (LSU had 3.79, Bama 3.81, Georgia 3.84) 2008 -- 3.82 (LSU had 3.58, Bama 3.72, Georgia 3.67)
I think they beat Va Tech because they can score, and they can stuff the run. Force Taylor to beat you with his arm, and you are in business. I think they win in Blacksburg, and then depending on who is playing in the OU game, i don't know. I do know Miami's defense struggles against a good passing game. I still have them winning the ACC the next 2 games are really insignificant as far as winning the ACC goes, VA Tech is not in on their side of the Conference, so they can afford to lose that game, if they take care of business in the southern part of the ACC, and they already have the tiebreak over FSU and GT.
I wouldn't count that as a guaranteed loss just yet. Miami beat Florida State, who pounded the team that beat OU. It definitely won't be like last year. I kind of like this Miami team, they are not like previous thug U teams of the past
