Yes, he's a freak of nature with the best offensive coordinator in the game. I wouldn't expect the same results for us next year.
Well depending on who we hire for our OC, Mettzenberger may indeed have a legit shot at starting next season. But it would have to be a pro-style OC, and even then Jefferson probably gets the nod.
Wouldn't mind seeing them split time, ala Flynn/Perrilloux, as long as the substitution pattern doesn't cause a dozen delay of game penalties like it did in '07. Will all depend on the OC hire, of course.
Playing for LSU. He had 2800 yards and 24 TDs with 3 INT's his senior year at Destrehan. Was rated a top 10 pro-style QB in the nation and we all know how that turned out. I'm just saying let's wait for Mett to get some snaps in a real game before we crown him.
4 (regular season) and I think 2 were in the first game against UNC. He didnt throw another until 8 or 9 games later in the Alabama game. passing hasnt been that futile since the inception of the forward pass. coach stud may be due a raise.
It doesn't matter to me that Jefferson is running "better." We have 4 or 5 individuals that can "run" much faster, make better cuts, and not fall down when a tackler gets close. We need a QB that actually can throw the football and manage the game CONSISTENTLY. The primary thing that JJ has not shown that he can do. He is over 2 years into college play, and he is proud to be finally make good reads... gimme a break. He throws for less than 100 yards in four consecutive games THIS year and we are discussing how he is going to help us make a championship run.. OK. Run a Power Spread with a throwing quarterback (aka TCU, Arkansas) where the philosophy is F.I.S (Feed the Studs). Pardon my vernacular, "He (Jefferson) ain't one (stud)!" I surely hope that some other individual on the LSU roster can successfully overtake JJ. My angst against him is simple-- Bad attitude, not a leader, and will throw anyone under the bus to absolve himself of blame. Beyond the pure fact that he has not progressed adequately in play to be called the unequivocal starter for 2011.
