Loaded with big athletic WR's, just lacking experience. As Mett and the WR's develop and get more chemistry it could be scary good. Shep needs to get his degree, his future is not in football, but I wish him the best.
Sometimes you wonder what game the talking heads were watching. http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=athlonsports&page=cfoot/news/news.aspx?id=4527998
game plan. run the shit out of the ball, short pass, keep running with everyone on the team that has ever carried a football, short pass, maybe another short pass. run, run, run, run, run, run, short pass. Now that you have completely worn the other team out at halftime, come out run some more, some short passes sprinkled around in there, and then late in the 3rd, hit em with the deep ball. By this time you have completely worn the other team out, all you have to do is keep handing the ball off to your 5 different running backs, and game over. Only difference, now we have a mother #(*()#*)( QUARTERBACK
He looked awesome last night. He knows where he wants to go with the ball and doesnt hesitate in the least. He is a true leader. The ball is on the money every time with Mett. The receivers had butter fingers last night or he would have been just about perfect. My only question is how in the hell did Mett not beat out JJ and Lee last year? Oh well, no need to rack the brain on that one. Just be glad he is here now.
Zack Looked GREAT!!! CLM actually called a GREAT GAME. The one thing I see Mett doing that we haven't seen, is the ability to step up or step out of the pocket and make a pass play. Lee just took the sack. JJ tried to run the ball, with limited success. Mett .. steps up .. and keeps his eyes down field for the play ..and that was refreshing. But .. I'm not going to diss on JJ and Lee. CLM didn't call this kind of a game last year. I'm just glad that now we have a QB that CLM has the confidence to call the type of game he did last night. I saw what I've always wanted to see ..... third and 8, and we throw the ball for a first down. Last night .. looked like a team that could beat anyone.
A lot of those drops have to do with that mustard on the ball. The first time I saw Mett was at a Nike camp when he was 15. He hit Julio Jones with a 55 yard strike, a perfect, tight spiral, that Julio caught as he was dragging his toes across the back line of the endzone with a defender all over him. I've been a fan ever since. Good game, Zach.
Gene, we loved us some Mett last night. With that QB piece in place, the NC is a very attainable goal.
I love the fact that the media is still up USC and Bamas ass. that will keep us under the radar a little bit. We have a passing attack now that can and will spread defenses. We have a coach that will stick to his run first offense and let just enough of the air attack plan out of the bag to keep defenses confused. As Mett gains experience and the season wears on we should start seeing more playbook. I won't be surprised to see our offense and QB play look like a guided missile attack later on in the season. I also believe Les is keeping Metts ability ,as a passer ,hidden from future DC's. When the time is right I expect to see an aerial assault unike we've seen in the last 4 or 5 yrs..
