Yeah I know what you mean, and the guy that led us there rode the bench while the suspendee thought he "made some plays". My problem is the constant bashing by the same exact people directed at the same exact people all the phucking time is just ridiculous. Sure, you're still hurt. Hell, I'm bitter about it too, but shit, it's damn near June, yet people are still bitching and moaning about Les Miles' coaching meltdowns. I'll tell ya what. If you think you can do so much phucking better, why don't you convince the powers that be to fire Coach Miles and hire you then you can do it your way. I'm sure that would fix everything. People need to get over themselves.
I mistakenly thought after a month past the NCG that this would eventually die down. It's clear to me now that if Les doesn't win it all again before he steps down, then the fans will dog him the rest of his career over that game, no matter how many 10+ win seasons he posts from here on out.
Exactly. How many of these "fans" paid attention to LSU anything before 2003? There's a growing sense of entitlement within the LSU fanbase and it's sad because most are bandwagon jumpers with no ties whatsoever.
I"m excited about Mett. Or Rivers ... or Randle ... or that new kid. I'm excited to see what Miles can do with em. But first, we gotta see if Mett is the starter. I'm sure he probably earned it in the Spring Game, but hey, we have to wait and see. I'm just itching to get back to the game ... LSU Football. What I know I won't see this year is what I've seen for the last 3 years. That in itself is worth it all for me.
Mett IS the starter. There is no QB controversy. I also look forward to the future. The past is what it is. I AM an asshole....at least that's what people tell me, so that doesn't hurt me, but I'm with you. Quit derailing the threads with all the damn negativity, especially about coaching.
So, basically, you're going to be bitter regardless of whether or not we go 14 and 0 in 2012. Do I have that correct? If Miles wins it all this year with Mett, he sucks as a coach because Mett wasn't playing in 2011, when we went 13-1? January 9th stunk to the high heavens, but why on earth LSU fans are intent on not remembering the GLORY that was the '11 season is beyond me. It was a thing of beauty that I'd NEVER seen before as a lifelong LSU fan. And Miles was the coach. As for other coaches who've "laid an egg" in championship games? Tressel against Florida ('06), Stoops against Carroll ('04)--worse losses than ours against Bama. Oh, and that coach at Bama laid an enormous egg in the Sugar Bowl against Utah in '08. $hit happens.
If Mettenberger didnt know the play book by the last game of the season, and he wasnt at least just as good as Jarrett Lee, people may be setting their expectations a little high. I believe the guy was at least, just as serviceable as Jarrett Lee by the last game. And if that is the case. He should have at least been out there, since apparently there was nothing else working and the ball is still being run halfway through the third quarter when it hasnt worked all game. I dont tell anyone how to think or post. Negative or positive, it's sharing opinions and discussing football on a forum. I've been going to LSU games and have been a fan since the 80's when Arnsparger was the coach, not just since 2003. I have accepted the fact that we have a winning coach who is a doof. A doof who will be around for awhile. But, his bonehead decisions are adding up just like his wins are. I refuse to overlook the fact he is capable of coaching games like the last one. Great coaches don't give up in the most important of games. Les did.
Worse losses, yes. But were they competing till the end, or did they continue the same things and not make adjustments and mail it in? I would have to watch those games again in order to tell. Yes I am bitter towards Les. Yes I am glad the team has been successful and can appreciate the fact that LSU is one of the best programs in college football. Will I let the glory of wins, put blinders over my eyes when Les's BrainFarts happen...No. If Mett comes out and looks like a heisman candidate the first couple of games, I would have to think that is some indication that he is pretty darn good. And being pretty darn good, its a good possibility that those abilites were there before the championship game. And if that is also the case, then he could have been an asset in a game, that was mailed in by the coach in the third quarter. Therefore Miles will looks more dumb for not even giving it a shot.
