I am sorry Mr. Corso, but you lost me at quantum physics. I do know that a coach who throws in the towel during games usually starts having players who do so after some time. And the ones who dont throw in the towel, usually go places to play for coaches who don't. I think it is easier to mask short comings in coaching when you're getting some of the best athletes in the country to come play for you. But if there is a decline in the amount of those athletes coming to your university for any reasons, those short comings stand out more. Lets hope Les never throws in the towel again. ever.
The team was way overconfident going into that game...according to the grandfather of one of the starters I talked to.
Kal, I don't know if the players packed it in or Miles threw in the towel...but sure as heck, I knew we were not gonna win before halftime.
I am very confused, you just told me they were overconfident and everyone knew it was over at halftime so wouldn't the team lose some of that confidence?
The SEC is a conference. Stands for South eastern Conference. We did ok on defensive but bama still scored 21 fringing points.
I dont think the players packed it in, its hard for me to believe after everything they went through during the season that they would just let it go. Miles not trying anything different after half time pretty much proves to me that he gave up. That is why I drew the conclusion I did. It may not be 100% correct. But in a game like that, after the season that transpired, you do all that you can to be successful and try to keep your teams confidence up. It would have been more acceptable had he shown he was trying and fell short. The fact that he didnt is beyond fustrating to me. And there is not too many other places to point the finger. I do realize that being over confident can be a hinderance, but I dont believe a over confident team packs it in.
Not sure about what Miles will do. None of us are. With the running game we have I will be happy with 16 to 22 passes a game , and with the receivers that we have , oh my, what a difference a passing game will look like . And on the defense, look for a few scores again this year . I would hope that our ex coach will use the same passing attack he useed in the SEC Championship game . I would like to see it one more time .
They were overconfident before the game and by half, looked like a team in shock (especially JJ)...They probably lost almost all their confidence by halftime. I don't think they quit though. The last time I saw that was that Arky game a few years ago when Rahim Alem kicked the ball keeping the Hogs drive alive. There was arguing and finger pointing in that game. That team quit. I don't think LSU did against Bama. I said I knew it was over. I don't think the team gave up, some individuals may have but they were ineffective as a team...Bama brought it that day. If there was dissension in that locker room before the game, it would have come out by now. At halftime, no one in the LSU locker room was happy...they were having their hats handed to them. So most people hung their hats on locker room dissension before the game as the reason we got beat. Others think Miles gave up. He had nothing to lose by playing Lee at that point though. I probably would have played Lee. So what if he would have thrown a pick six. We had nothing to lose...he might have thrown a TD. we'll never know. I think Bama just kicked us in the teeth ...hard. I can't wait till we play them again !!
