LSU will compete for the western division SEC title this year. As an LSU fan lets not get too ahead of ourselves. These guys prepare all offseason to compete in the toughest conference in america. Physically we have one of the best weight programs in the country. Football is 90% physical and 10% mental and I believe that Tommy Moffit will have our guys ready before sept. 1st 2012. Doesn't matter who's playing behind center becasue we have 4 running backs that can start anywhere in the country. As far as Les Miles as our head coach, I don't care what kind of bone head moves he's making. He's the coach and as a fan I don't think there are any coaches out there that we could get that are that much better...

Ask Billy Cannon, Warren Rabb et all. The same thing happened to them in 1959. They beat Ole Miss on Holloween Night (famous run back & goal line stand "punt Jake punt") and were trounced by Ole Miss the same 21-0 score in the Sugar Bowl. They had won the NC the year before and had it at stake again. You can name quite a few times when that has happened to other teams.
Sometimes ***t happens. It did that night in Jan.

I appreciate your enthusiasm on the success that LSU may have this year. I would really like to see them capture the SEC title and compete for another crystal ball.

But I have to believe its a little more than 10% mental. If it is however, I guess that's one more thing Les has in his corner.

Mettenberger is the kind of QB, you gameplan around and let him play his game. Support him with a good running game, and definitely mix things up. I think you can be a little more open with motion and formations with him behind center which will also be a plus. Mettenberger is not a QB for a multi-QB system. Neither was Jarrett Lee. Neither was Jamarcus Russell or Rohan Davey (just for more examples).

I agree to a degree. It's like the first time you bang that hottie being better than the second. Once you "got" it, getting it again is great but never comes close to the thrill of the first time.

So if a team goes to one National Championship game one year, it is possible that they will under perform if they make it to a second National Championship game shortly after because its not the first time they did it? Just trying to understand the logic.

I just dont see how much more incentive someone needs who is involved in the game of all games for college football. I realize $h!t happens and bad games will occur. Poor coaching happens and bad play and mistakes happen. But I never think throwing in the towel, especially in that type of game should be acceptable. No matter how few times it happens or who has more incentive. You don't go undefeated winning 13 games in a row, to throw in the towel in the last and most important one.

Not SO FAST!!!! Football is a team sport. It has never been about being the smartest man with the game plan. In Les Miles case we can all agree on it he's a pretty funny guy. His offense is way to Vanilla for my taste buds but look at the bright side he has some of the best athletes in the country to work with. He may not win the game in the first half but his depth chart extends from tiger stadium all the way to the stern tide of the Mississippi River... You put Michael Ford Alfred Blue and Terrance Magee behind a 260 plus fb. I'd say you have a game plan... Not to mention the #1 defense in the country...

Easy there scooter. LSU and Chavis have a great defense. The tigers were very lucky to get the Chief to Baton Rouge, and that was Leslie's great contribution. But the defense wasn't ranked number one though.

Its going to take more than three running backs and a fullback to carry the offense. SEC defenses need to be challenged more. Guys in the south grew up from pee wee ball learning to stop the run. If you don't mix stuff up, and remain "vanilla" as you stated, you get beat, your luck runs out and it ends in disappointment.

Mett and a better offensive line will make a difference this year. The stable of running backs is duely noted. But two to three yards and a cloud of dust hasnt really been productive for anyone in college football for some time.

Football is all about mis matches and with a productive running game you force teams to play more nickel forcing a linebacker or a safety to come up in coverage. If you have three running backs that can continuously pound the football for 4 quarters you ware down the front four making it easier for you offensive line to buy more time for the quarterback to throw down field.. I can not put it down as simple as that. Football isn't made for scientist it's made for dummies like you and I and coach Les Miles... Guys are getting beat up all game long why do you think this stuff is quantum physics.. Les is a team guy and gets along with his players...
