they fired the manager to prevent this all from happening, right? To make the team more 'mentally tough'. So who's fault is it now? My answer: The same guy who's been at fault imo for years: Omar Minuya. But he just got an extension, so yeah.
Losing Billy Wagner didn't help. They have no bullpen. I think THAT's where their problems are stemming from. If you have no bullpen, then you can't win games.
Yeah their bullpen is an utter mess. There is no need to even make the playoffs now. They would be one and done. Milwaukee with a much better bullpen and the 2 horses up front starting would pose a much greater threat to the other NL playoff contenders.
not unless you wanna fire the team. its on them. the rays kept it together in the AL facing a DH and tougher teams with a shelved percival. wagner is not the reason they are sucking. its that mental game they are losing again.
So get this. If the weather ends up cancelling both the Friday and Saturday games, the Mets are facing the daunting task of having to play a double header vs the Marlins on Sunday. Then on Monday they play the last of the 3 game series vs the Marlins. Add on the possibilty that the Cubs game tonight has a chance of being rained out and then you have a team who, for the very first time in MLB history, will be forced to play a doubleheader against 2 DIFFERENT teams on Monday (Marlins, Cubs). Then if it's a 3 way tie between the Phillies, Mets and Brewers, the Mets play a division-winner deciding game vs the Phillies on Tuesday. If they lose that game, they would then play the Brewers on Wednesday to decide who gets the wildcard. Gemini crickit.
The manager isnt the full problem and they have done quite well since Randolph was fired. Their problem is one day they will throw great and cant hit at all, then vice versa. They havent been able to put two consecutive weeks together of complete baseball all year long. F the Mets. I guess this means Martin has been gone for almost a full year.
