"Veteran wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson was released by the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday, the St. Petersburg Times reported. "They said they wanted to get younger," Johnson told the newspaper. "That's fine with me. I'd like to go somewhere and help someone win another Super Bowl." The move came a month after the Panthers paid Johnson a $3 million roster bonus, and three days after they selected another former Southern California receiver in the second round of the draft. Keyshawn's laughing all the way to the bank. It will be interesting to see if another team picks him up.
Did yall see him doing an interview with Jarrett after he was drafted. He was excited to get a chance to be his mentor and now he gets cut because of him.:hihi:
LOL...someone in the Carolina head office screwed up. Cant believe they paid him a 3M roster bonus only to cut him 30 days later.
Yeah... I was thinking about that right after I heard he was cut. You would think he had an idea he was going to get cut.
There has got to be more than this. Otherwise, the Carolina front office is about as smart as the Miami front office.
The local fishwrap is reporting that management was pissed at him for not taking some of the blame for Delhomme's terrible play (seriously, I'm not making this up.) Of course Delhomme's a below average QB, so I don't know why they would be surprised that he's ineffective w/o Steve Smith. The roster bonus just cracks me up. Based on that, and the above about wanting Keyshawn to take the blame, it sounds like Carr will be a perfect fit. There are plenty of teams that will want Keyshawn. I have to wonder if Loomis is kicking himself over the Patten signing, since Keyshawn's still at least a decent receiver.
