France was heavily favored. We lost the lead in the 3rd leg and France had their best swimmer on the anchor leg. It looked pretty much impossible. But our anchor guy had an unbelievable last 25 meters to overtake the French guy at the wall and just barely. The anchor leg guy for the French had talked smack this week stating they came to the Olympics to "smash" the Americans, not just beat them. Haha. The French suck balls.
Amazing! Didn't think they had a chance going into the last leg. Huge choke job by the French at the end--especially after all the talking.
A closer look shows the anchor guy swam a 46.7 second leg for France, which is very very good. All the credit has to go to the USA dude who swam the anchor. He just took it from him. Sorry for not knowing these swimmers' names. I think the French guy was Brenard/Brenaird.
Not really. They were pretty even -- just the hype machine talking. This is true. Absolutely great race.
Brenard is right but him and Phelps were the only guys I knew. Phelps helped much in the 1st leg. I have never jumped off my coach during a swimming event before but with the announcer saying the France was just too good for the Americans the whole time, I stood up and yelled suke it douche. BTW, did anyone see the soap opera story for the women's event before the relay? One french swimmer stole the boyfriend of the her teammate.
The announcers made it seem as if they were a favorite and the USA winning would be a big upset. Maybe they were just playing it up.
