I've never heard an AD say the things Alleva said in his open letters. Plus, he was complaining about the attendance at non-conference and (mostly) throw-away games. This isn't Duke where basketball is king. Do I think more people should attend basketball games? Of course. But to call out the fan base like that was somewhat ridiculous.
I'm sorry, but LSU fans don't want to pay to see LSU play against Lighthouse for the Blind. I was somewhat disappointed in the attendance for the wazzu game though.
It's more of a scheduling conflict than anything else. Last night a hornets game started at the same time as this one. And they get first billing. Maybe when espn's deal goes into effect next season we will get more national tv games (though they will probably be on the Ocho or espnu)
Right. I don't really blame the fans, b/c it always takes some time to right the ship and get fan base back. The early season games were largely made for the team and the coach, not the fans. The Xavier game will be the true test. Saturday game against a top 15 team (top 10 in the RPI) in deaf dome. We'll see then what the fans are made of. But, as PodK says, remember the SEC signed some huge TV deal with ESPN and as a result, SEC hoops will be on TV a lot more in the years to come. This team deserves air time.... the Xavier game will be on ESPN2. As for the game and this team, I guess proof is in the pudding. They have beat their last three opponents by like 73 combined points. I understand that there was a conflict with the Hornets for the CoxSports channel but damn why did LSU give Cox free reign over LSU's campus if we don't get anything out of it. Cox has a crapton of channels over their line that can be offered to air non-nationally televised games. Alleva should be using his AD clout to get cox to air the games, not making insults to the fans. I am not asking for them to get Dick Vitale to call the games, (not that i would want him to ever call the game) but getting the games out to the public to stimulate interest is a good thing. And that would help with ticket sells.

you are right, those 100 subscribers versus the potential ad-revenue of a local broadcast. Hell the GeauxZone might actually make more money in that setup.
