Whoever said that Fortson was not someone we should be too concerned about was dead wrong. Game would have not been close with him on the bench. We had no one who could guard him tonight and he had another great game against the Tigers. I love what Trent is doing with this team. Finally winning rebound battles with fewer big men and a sense of consistent urgency we have not seen at LSU in a long time.
The problem as far as fortson is concerned was his penetration in the lane. The numerous guards who were guarding him were not getting any help inside. NONE. No one could match up with hime in that man to man. But when they started using the zone, that's when he started passing the ball more. But he always went left, a couple of times he went up the middle. That quick crossover was a killer. He CAN dribble. It looked like he couldn't shoot too well going to his right. The first 10 minutes of the game was all arky. LSU could not make a basket, we had plenty of good looks, plenty of good looking shots, but we were trying to play too fast. Kept fumblimg passes, way too many turnovers. I know Tas hit about 20 points, but don't let that fool you. I'm not sure of the numbers, but I know he turned the ball over at least 3-4 times by himself. That "Rotnie" Clark shot the lights out. God I hate fayetteville. Imagine the gayest thing you've seen in your lifetime and multiply x10=inside bud walton arena. The butthole of the nation. Freakin Lozerbacks. Drowning in a sea of ugly and smelly busch soaked red. The few patches of purple and gold I saw sure made me smile though. 'sniffle sniffle' I'm not alone. Played like crap and still walked away with the "V"!
:yelwink2: Tremendous win, CTJ and guys. It's funny I was waiting for the Brady comment to appear somewhere. After reading about what happened in the game, though, my recurring question is "When's the last time that you'd expect the Tigers to come back from 18 points down on the road?" Sure, you can chalk it up to the players. But, I can certainly remember plenty of games with Brady where once down, the Tigers just stayed down. There's something to be said about the Xs and Os of the comeback, but moreover, it's the psyche of the team and the will to win that is just confidence inspired due to the players and their coaching. What a difference a new season makes, my friends. :geauxtige THREE GAMES TO GEAUX. BE A PART OF THE TRENT JOHNSON ERA.
Well, let's not just completely forget about the 30-point beatdown in Utah. But I am extremely excited for this team, and for this team's future.
Did another last minute comeback win remind anyone of last year's LSU baseball team. Maybe there's something in the water in Baton Rouge besides the carcinogens! :tigbas:.
with the way washington was handled last night, the weakness of the team may be defending quick guards and not the post. thornton was the winner of the turnover crown last night with 5 (although there were plenty to go around). he sort of made up for them with SEVEN steals (thats a lot, btw). fortson's stats dont look so hot when you see 4/5 assist/turnover ratio. bass's was 5/0 evidently, he couldnt come close to defending fortson, but 5/0 assist/turnover ratio is awesome. especially for a freshman. especially for a freshman with little pt. great to read a post from someone at the game.:thumb: i coulda lived without the last few sentences though.
You need to get fully on board. You still appear to be afraid of failure for this team as some of your posts indicate. Let the Brady years go. He's not here anymore to wreck this team.
