One of you all with more time than me will need to search the ESPN archive, but a guard on Memphis's bball team is transferring and the ESPN story said he is considering LSU.

Thought for sure it would be here by now, but it isn't, so there ya have it. :)

I would think there would be a strong chance we get him with the main selling point being playing time.

Dandy Don also confirms the visit for "the last couple of days", and his "source" who says LSU is in good standing.

Trent and staff are definitely getting active. I continue to be intrigued by this player and wonder if he's a good fit. But, the bottomline is, in a year, we've got Alex Farrer (Sr) or Bo Spencer (Jr) (if he's not playing point) as our starting SGs. I think Mack could step in and get a good amount of minutes right away, which is I'm sure what he's thinking.

But, here are his stats and bio:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=31742
    http://gotigersgo.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/mack_doneal00.html

His shooting percentages have all gone down. Not a bad pps number, probably comparable to other LSU guards. From a pure athlete/recruit standpoint, is an immediately a more "SEC prototypical" shooting guard at 6'5" and athletic.

    pomeroy has some more stats.

looks like this kid shoots (% shots 30.9-the % of his teams shots he takes while on floor) and doesnt turn it over (turnover rate 10.6--memphis's anderson was 15.6 (worse) and thornton's was 13.7). an eFG% of 53 aint bad either (slightly better than thornton's).

I strongly doubt that either Farrer or Spencer would be ahead of Mack at SG.

I don't disagree with you. But, didn't we all think that Dameon Mason was going to be the SG of the future? He averaged close to 12 ppg at Marquette, and couldn't get it going at LSU. Now, you'd think a guy like CTJ could find the right spots to use a guy like him, but I'm just wary.

Now from what I can tell, Mack is a good shooter and definitely is talented. But, Spencer has shown the ability to hit the three consistently, and Farrer doesn't HURT you when he's on the court and he hustles his ass off. Mack I think gives you depth at SG, and a bigger guy with good outside shot, but how's his attitude if he's not getting the rock? How's his defense? There are other elements that come into play.
