OK loyal fans, here's your moment where you get to tell your funniest, shocking and hilarious moments that you saw in person at an LSU event. Thinking back one of mine would have to be at the Independence Bowl when a streaker with shoes and a blue speedo ran on the field and got JACKED UP by a police officer, also in that same game a fan ran onto the field with a LA Tech flag....and then there's the Oregon State game in 2004 where multiple streakers ran onto the field while it was delayed due to rain, one was even completely nude...ahh, boy do I miss LSU.
Ah, the Oregon State game... the first game of my senior year. The band had just finished pregame (and was soaking wet, mind you). We were forced off the field due to lightning and hanging out in the tunnel under the student section when they pulled those streakers off the field. We had some good laughs about them. Oregon State was probably the most fun (not necessarily the most exciting... 2003 National Championship Game takes that prize) Pregame I did. It was not raining at all when we started, but by the time the :lsup: formed, we were drenched. Another highly memorable moment was in 2001. It was the first game after September 11, and the band took off their hats on the field before playing Amazing Grace. As far as anyone knew, it was the only time the band took their hats off. At this point, the stadium was in absolute silence; so much so that I could hear a cell phone ring in the stands while on the field. This moment still gives me chills as I write about it. :usaflagwa
Ah, yes, the streaking during the Oregon State wash-out was hilarious. I was already in shock that I had been caught in the rain at LSU in a white t-shirt (that always happened to me when I was a student.) Of course, in '04, I was three months pregnant, so...I'm sure it wasn't as enjoyable to see as when I was a student. When I was a student, one time Jordy Hultburg was reporting on the field before a game, and some students above me yelled, "Hey, Jordy!" He looked up and smiled and waved. The guys yelled, "You SUCK!" then threw something at his head. Man, I loved the student section.
The funnies part about the streakers was that when they were escorted in handcuffs through the tunnels by the cops, they were paraded by the Golden Girls. You could see the look on their faces of OH Sh**!!!! You could tell they immediately regreted it. On another note it was funny listening to Mr. Wickes say "Whoever said it never rains in Tiger Stadium is full of ****!"
I guess it was probably 7 or 8 years ago when they really cracked down on students throwing their drinks when we scored a touchdown. Used to be, you would get drenched with coke, water, sprite, and I know it's against the rulels but I swear there was some bourbon in there too.....:lol: So of course, you would have to look back to see the cups and what not flying down and I'll never forget one time I looked back and my buddy did too. There was a cup that seemed like it was a mile in the air and we were just trying to make sure our girlfriends didn't get hit. So my buddy reaches around his girlfriend and catches a half full cup of bourbon and coke (with his left hand by the way) and I swear it didn't spill a drop. The only thing better than seeing that was seeing the look on his face as he realized that he actually caught the damn thing.....priceless.
