had it not been for the suspension crazy to think a true sophomore defensive player could have even been invited, much crazier to think he would actually win it it's been one helluva season for him One more game. One more impact performance.
He's got himself set up nicely for next year. If he plays his game and keeps his nose clean, I believe it'll be his.
That's such bullsh!t. Is he or isn't he the best player in college football? What a joke those f'n voters are, and the award itself. It's nothing more than a popularity contest, not an award for the best player in college football. Ridiculous.
I would normally say that this was a "career" year for Mathieu, but he did this as a true freshman as well (he just didn't return punts). He will continue to dominate games.
But he did it in 2010, defensively. And just think he wasn't the defacto punt returner until late in the season. Beckham took a lot of those opportunities away from him.
I agree. He hasn't taken a step back at all ... all forward. I think he'll probably have an even better year next year. This year he suffered some growing pains of all the notoriety. Next year, he'll have a similar or better performance, and be able to handle the spotlight that he was not quite ready for this year.
