Anyone know if Steve Spurrier walked away from a buyout at SC? That man sure knows how to make a decision, something CLM, even with all his fine attributes, is not too good at.

There might have been an amicable "retirement" if Alleva and the Board of Supervisors had handled this with more class and in private.

If they gonna do it they need to do it sooner than later. Firing him now instead of a week from now would really do no harm. The quicker we can get the search on the better.

Next year's team was a serious NC contender. I think LSU's chances next year were excellent. Les could have retired with a NC under his belt and leaving the #1 recruiting class to his successor. Win/win and everyone has the warm fuzzies. Now we have a national debacle, and it's too late to keep Les without firing Alleva.

As long as we have the offense we have and this D Coordinator we weren't winning a NC.

Exactly, not even sniffing a NC with that offense.

He would of gotten that or close to it either way through retirement negotiations...For example we could of paid him all or most of it all at once instead of spread out over the 8 years as stipulated in the contract. Another example he leaves now and gets more than he would should we keep him on board until Jan 1st.

The only way LSU would win a NC next year with Miles staying is if the following things happen.

    1. They land 90 percent of the recruits they go after.
    2. Those recruits play immediately and out of their minds, especially on defense.
    3. Kendall Beckwith and Tredavious White stay for their senior season.
    4. LSU hires an offensive coordinator that is given 100 percent full control over the offense with no Les meddling.
    5. Brandon Harris morphs into an actual quarterback.
    6. LSU hires a real defensive coordinator instead of an admin that pretends to be a coach.

Do you see any of that happening?
