Lord please forgive what our friend Bayou Bengal asked for, as evidently he has been in the sacramental wine or is crazy as fuck. Amen

BayouBengal014, you betta shut yo mouf.

I'm really scared that this will turn into Herbstreit/Miles going to Michigan. I'm not convinced that Herbstreit was full of crap in this and there was possibly something in the works and Miles had to pull out because of the detriment it would do to the team. I'm afraid that this could happen with Herman.

It plays out like this......word gets out that Herman and LSU are in talks and maybe LSU even has him wrapped up but the word gets out. All while Herman is running the table at UH and will probably make the playoff, and the Big 12 votes to let UH into the Big12, which means a nice bonus for Herman. With a potential playoff spot (considering the Big 12 probably won't get a spot) on the line, coupled with a move to the Big12 to boost his recruiting power even more, Herman would probably back out to keep from harming the team as the move toward a playoff spot. What would that do to UH recruiting if he can say he made the playoffs in a year the Big 12 couldn't get anybody into the playoff.

But he may not even consider LSU for the reasons mentioned above. He is going to be sitting pretty if UH gets into the Big12 and if a playoff spot is in order. Versus coming to LSU with big talent coupled with big expectations, knowing that the only way to get an SEC title is to beat the best coach of all time. Maybe the feeds his ego and competitive spirit, but if I'm him I don't know if I would take the LSU job if UH gets in the Big 12 and if it looks like UH is going to a playoff. LSU would have to wrap him up before either of these things happen. Even if they do have him wrapped up he may pull out if these things happen because that changes everything.

I'll be so happy if they get Herman, I'm not optimistic. He has a lot of upside at UH if they get into the Big12.

On the flip side, the CFP committee will screw over Houston (as the committee usually does) and Herman will be pissed off.

I have felt like Herman has been a pipe dream from day one, I put it up there with Gruden. I think we end up going a different direction. I am not sure where, but its not the end of the world if we do not secure Herman. There are a lot of good coaches out there working with under whelming talent they just haven't made a big splash on the big stage yet.

Look at the Philadelphia Eagles, rolling teams with a coach that was not that hot a commodity before being hired. He has the Eagles looking super bowl worthy.

I have always felt like Les Miles got by on talent so much more than coaching. This LSU talent shouldn't be that difficult to come in and coach up to their potential.

I don't think we have a chance with a big name coach. Hope we can get an up and comer. Worst fear is assistants start bailing before we get someone.

We've always "only" gotten the up and comers. That's what Saban and Miles were. But I have to ask why you think we can't get a big name coach?

    Only because, historically, we haven't?

I am home today because I had to get a cortisone injection in my knee this morning. I watched O' press conference. It was a tad cringe-worthy.

The cortisone must have inoculated you against Coach O's contagious enthusiasm.
