He could turn out to be a great coach. I like what I see. But LSU is not going to hire anybody who doesn't have a longer head coaching resume. He is more of a gamble than hiring Jimbo.
I thought it was pretty common knowledge that Archer did not recruit well at all and lost tons of great Louisiana talent during his tenure. It seemed like every competitive team had a player from Louisiana on it. That was also when Marshall Faulk was killing it at San Diego State.
I agree, but he also appears to have a higher ceiling. Changing coaches is always a gamble. Nothing guarantees that either would\will have success at LSU.
I never heard of him until Sunday or Monday. I had no idea what he even looked like until today. He's no Pat Fitzgerald, but he's not unfortunate-looking, either.
