The two biggest problems with the offense was poor tackling and failure to cover receivers consistently. If we can improve in those two areas we should have a top-ranked defense next year. But the biggest problem LSU had this year was on offense. It was a shambles. To fix that will require a lot of work.
Its laughable really. Did we look that good this year? No, but we are 9-3 and heading for a great bowl and looking at another 10 win season. Pretty damn impressive considering how we stumbled and bumbled around so much. I'll take it and run.
16 points per game is very, very good. It was 10-2 before people realized how awful Ole Miss and Georgia were. We had 2 big games this year and couldn't win either of them. One of them.. there was some zebra influence, so I can't be upset with that.
No we didn't look good this year. After the Washington game, I predicted we would win ugly when we won this year, and that's pretty much what we got. It isn't the first time it's happened with LSU, and probably won't be the last. BUt 9-3 after 7-5 is definite improvement, especially after looking at how many teams in the SEC had winning seasons vs. the two that didn't:geaux:
Which one of the two big games "with zebra influence" are you talking about? The no call on Florida's TD with offensive pass interference (grabbing the defensive back's jersey and then blowing by him)? ....or the "Pat Peterson was out of bounds interception" against Bama?
im with ya, but for me it will depend on the decisions of two juniors--toliver and jones. really think itll be tough to lose lafell, toliver and dickson (not that he was ever used this year.)
Alem see ya! Charles Alexander who is the only player to have recorded a sack against Eli and Archie Manning, see ya!
This is actually an interesting point. I haven't really been about to post but I was wondering about out our D as well. I think our defense has been respectable considering the fact that it is a new system and all. Additionally the fact that our offense did our defense no favors staying on the field for longer than like 2 mins. I'm sure they were just a little fatigued. However what bothers me is the fact that we gave Arkansas' QB soooooooooooooo much time to do whatever he wanted. I lost track the amount of times that Arkansas had wide receivers open and they just dropped passes. Things could have been really bad if Arkansas was clicking. I'm just worried that our glaring offensive issues may be fixed then we have another headache with a soft D for the next couple of years. Then again maybe I'm spoiled with the whole wrap up, hard nosed, ass kicking attitude we had several years ago. This really makes me miss the Muschamp defense. :tigerhead
