Look at what crack/heroin has done to the inner city, as well as any user for that matter. Drugs such as those have done nothing but completely destroy the users. Besides I'm willing to bet in mj was legalized or at the least decriminalized, many would sway away from those and stick to the green.
Look at what guns have done to those neighborhoods too. If they were all legal, what would the dealers have to gain by selling them and turning those neighborhoods into war zones? I'm not anti-gun either by the way.
I have a disease that is destroying my spine. I have had five vertabral fractures in the last fifteen years. If I could swap out the pain pills and muscle relaxers for medical herb I would do it and try to never take another pill. Ain't gonna happen. I was offered by my doctors to go on disability two years ago. I decided aginst it and suffer through it until my lil boy grads highschool. He's going to second grade. Pot would make it a lot better. Ain't gonna happen though.
Whats worse, being someone who lives on opana and flexiril or someone who may be able to stop those and smoke a joint ? Some may say just take advil and don't take any pain pills. I swear to God if I would never have to take another pill again I would be happy to stop. I wish to God I would not hurt so bad that I had to take them.
I see your point, but majority of those guns are not legally bought and then supplied... But rather stolen in home invasions, taken and then traded for or sold for more crack/heroin/meth... imo those 3 I listed have too much destruction attributed to them to be made legal... After all those drugs have a ton of violence associated with them, just from the user stand point. On the flip side though, I hate being told what I as an adult can and can not put into my body as long as I am not hurting others. Sad thing is most of those users do go out and hurt others to support their habit.
Chemotherapy Cancer patient goes to federal prison Imagine your wife gets cancer. She has to go through Chemotherapy, it drains her, she is in constant pain and cannot eat. Marijuana helps her eat, and helps her smile, it does just enough to where she can live semi-normally. So you decide to grow some plants so your wife can be pain free, and can eat. You get busted and go to jail... That is not justice. It's one thing when it's you, you can always tell yourself, hey I can get through this without jeopardizing my job, and my family's well being... But if it was your wife, would you approve of her doing it, even if illegal?
And that's a damn shame. Now I don't have the severity of issues like you do, but the meds given to me post shoulder surgery screwed me up, the sides were about as bad, if not worse than the actual injury was. I just stopped taking them and started smoking.
there are many cases where marijuana has helped patients who are undergoing chemotherapy, be able to eat, as the chemo kills the appetite.
