The media only plays favoritism to revenue that is propelled by ratings. ESPN is no different. Bama has the best shot at beating LSU and the media got behind it immediately after the first game was played. The CBS success with viewer ratings from that game surely influenced ESPN's decision to rival CBS and get an even bigger rematch. Capitism in collegiate sports, that's all. Get used to it.

Does espn want playoffs? Did they promote the rematch thinking there would be such a backlash that playoffs were a sure response. Do they think they will be the ones to televise the playoffs?
If bama is the number two then so be it. I just don't completely understand why they pushed an agenda. Why promote any one team instead of covering the news? Espn had more to do with bama getting in than bama's record did.

This can't be entirely blamed on espn. The voters were free to choose who they wanted. They chose bama. That's ok. I would think that for those that were undecided the extra attention bama got helped them make up their mind.

One thing is a truth, lsu didn't need help. We didn't need voters to put us in over another team. We are the only team left standing. Undefeated!
Anyone not happy with this game can't be upset at us. We are the one team that truely deserves to be there. We won our way in. No politics involved on our part. No other team can say that.

Alabama is the 2nd best team in the country. And personally I love the fact that this team will go down as one of the greatest college football teams of all time after we beat Saban for a 3rd time in a row. I would rather play Alabama for those reasons, and for the simple fact that I firmly believe that LSU would absolutely crush the Pokes.

That being said this needs to be made clear.

Alabama DOES NOT deserve a rematch. I wanted to punch Saban through the screen last night being he is a lying sack of dog sh!t. All that garbage he was spewing out about how they played a great game against us, and how they deserve to be there after the Number 1 team in the nation had to play it's way in while Bama rode our coattails when we beat them at their house. Les Miles forced Saban to go completely brain dead during that football game. The play calling, the choices he made to kick field goals or punt, he completely diverted from his style, and now he is saying they deserve to be there, after doing absolutely nothing to warrant it.

Oklahoma State deserves to be in the title game. They have hardware to prove it. They have matching records, Oklahoma State has played more ranked teams, they have beaten more ranked teams, and actually 7 of their opponents are in bowl games. Alabama has 3.

But let's give Alabama a free pass into the national championship game just because we think they are the 2nd best country in the nation. The voters basically looked at LSU and said, your win vs. Bama means nothing, the SEC Championship game, means absolutely nothing.

Again, I want to play Alabama, but they damn sure don't deserve a f'n thing.

Got an email from an Oregon alum this morning. He congratulated us on getting through the gauntlet this year (reminds me of PSU2007's post), but went onto say he wasn't interested in the rematch and likely wouldn't watch it.

We went onto have a discussion about what would have happened had Oregon been in Bama's shoes. Would they have gotten the rematch? I don't think they would have.

Bama is one of a very few with the political power and influence to pull this off.
USC, Ohio state , notre dame and Texas are others that come to mind.

Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy, said he is not going to watch the National Championship Game,

I don’t blame him. I don’t blame anybody for not wanting to watch it. I am not going to lie, I felt the same way last night when they announced the rematch is a sure thing, as I did the night I found out that Obama was elected.

I just felt that people voted for the wrong reason, and politics were officially “Politics” in full swing.

At that point last night, a part of my passion for the sport of College football died. I should be excited as hell right now, my team is going to the national championship, instead I felt sick to my stomach that we as a country of ignorant opinions, have tarnished the great sport of college football. Everything I loved about the sport has all but disappeared. It’s about money and power now. The BCS slogan is “Everygamecounts” in fact that is their Twitter Handle, really????? Every Game Counts??? Are you sure about that. Because now, 2 things have died about college football.
    1) The beautiful thing about the regular season being so important.
    2) The importance of winning your conference.

If a team has already lost and knows it can’t make the big game, the next best 3 things about college football, are beating your rival, playing spoiler, and winning your conference. They have now killed all of that and it means ****! This is a sad day for me. My favorite sport on earth has been tarnished and poisoned and I am literally sickened by it.

Bama playing for the crystal is nothing more than political.

They didn't earn their way in and they know it.

They have 30 days to think about the ass kicking they have coming.
