Meanwhile, as the coaching SEC coaching carousel turns ----

The Knoxville News Sentinel is reporting that UT’s David Cutcliffe is the leading candidate for the Duke job and has interviewed, but in a mid afternoon phone call Cutt said no offer has been made.

Former DC at several SEC schools, Joe Lee Dunn, said in the Memphis Commercial Appeal today that he is leaving his current job as head coach of Ridgeway High School and will be the DC at New Mexico State.

Down in Oxford, the Clarion-Ledger is reporting that new Ole Miss HC Houston Nutt has hired South Carolina’s Tyron Nix as DC, and that Chris Vaughn has already left Arkansas and joined Nutt at Ole Miss as recruiting coordinator. Arkansas running backs coach Mike Markuson announced he would be joining Nutt at Ole Miss after the Cotton Bowl and OC David Lee was expected to come with him.

Speculation in Fayetteville is that after former Arkansas Assistant Coach and current Tulsa OC, Gus Malzahn did not get the Houston job, he will return to UA as OC.

Former LSU assistant coach and current Notre Dame Assistant Coach, Michael Haywood reportedly also interviewed for the Houston job which was take by Oklahoma assistant, Kevin Sumlin.

Mike this kinda thing is gonna be rampant for the next few months. Seems like the way things are setting up, we're gonna see more than the "usual" amount of shuffling this year.

Why? OC at UT > HC at Duke

I agree, the Duke HC job is a step backwards even if it is a HC job. Cut did a pretty decent job at ole siss, remember it is ole miss, how good did they expect to be?

Don't forget the new OC at the barn. New high powered spread eagle offense.

The Duke job is definitely a challenge, but it's not impossible to win there. I disagree that it's a step backward for Cuttcliffe. If he wins there he will be able to write his own ticket. If he looses, he will always be able to get an OC job again. It's really a no loose situation. No one expects him to win, but if he does...

Dukes never really been a powerhouse for football though. BB is of course, as we all know, their forte...

Why on EARTH would Gus Malzahn return to Arkansas?

I swear the people in NW AR have lost their God ****ed minds.
